I am in fact a picky eater, but i'll try just about anything once. I do not eat pork [with the exception of bacon on burgers & pepperoni].

I'm not sure if you're trolling or trying to be smart or something though. Can't ever tell what those black folk are up to

I have had all the foods on that list (and eat a lot of them regularly) except partridge and pheasant.

More:

Fermented/cultured food products (from dairy, from soya, etc)

Dark honeys, particularly Manuka honey from NZ, and Sidr honey from Yemen

Organ meats (heart, liver, kidney, brain, etc).

OEP's credibility about food and the taste of it was shot when he went on and on about how tasty and wonderful the pith of oranges is.

And now he's claiming that butternut squash, avocado, and raisins are uncommon?

'Common' and 'uncommon' are not scientific terms. From my observation, most people don't eat butternut squash or avocados. As for raisins, a lot of people eat them, but the golden variety. I specifically listed the black variety.

I don't remember claiming that the pith of oranges is 'tasty'. It is, however, 'wonderful', if 'wonderful' = nutritious. You gonna argue with that fact? The pith is completely tasteless to me, so I don't see how I could have claimed that it is 'tasty'. Quote?

I sure got called the fuck out, didn't I???!!!!

I love butternut squash, avacado and raisins (black).

I would have to say your dried fruit list and your meat list are too expensive for me. Tell me some good alternative to the meats. I would do without them but qntmken would probably become a cannibal.

I think the type of eating we are going to try to start doing is having a big breakfast, medium lunch, and no dinner.
I have to look into that way of eating a little more but I think it sounds good so far. That is with healthy small snacking in between.

"I get my quinoa from the grain bins at Whole Foods. I usually boil it for a few minutes until it looks like there is a little tail separating from the grains. Sometimes I'll eat it plain with salt like rice. Other times I'll scramble an egg, sautee some tomatoes, throw in a bunch of spices, and mix that in with the cooked quinoa.

It is very healthy. It is loaded with protein and it's one of the few grains with the amino acids required for your body to actually use that protein."

Treat it like rice.

It doesn't take long at all...You'll know it's done because it goes from little dots of grain to little dots with tails. You'll know what I'm talking about when you see it, but it'll only take a few minutes.

I dunno. You can always get boxed quinoa at just about any grocery store just like you can get boxes of grits or rice. Just ask where it is. I'm sure there are other stores (Fresh Market or Trader Joes maybe?) that serve the same needs in your area if you want it out of the grain bins.

I always look for a Whole Foods when I'm on the road. I love the south, but it's tough to find good pre-prepared foods here if you don't like that fast food junk.

^ Good!

White tea
Yellow tea
Green tea
Oolong tea
Black tea

(The above are all real tea, from the the Camellia Sinensis plant... white is not oxidized at all, and black is the most oxidized, and others in between, but all are healthy and very high in antioxidants)

Rooibos, also called as "red tea", or "red bush tea".

(From another plant, grown in South Africa. Has a red liquor, and a fruity taste, as opposed to the earthy taste of tea. Doesn't have tannins, so doesn't get bitter no matter how long you steep it for. Also very healthy, and contains different antioxidants from tea.)

You are right about that. It already made some waves a couple of years ago. Some company in the US started selling a mangosteen drink and marketed it as a very healthy product. There was also a long thread about it here. Don't feel like googling it. I am sure it will make a strong comeback.

Quote :

Same reason black/red grapes are more nutritious than white grapes. In general, the darker/deeper the color of the flesh of the fruit/vegetable, the healthier it is.

Quote :
"i thought avocados were all fatty and stuff"

Another reason I listed avocado, even though they are pretty common. Hey, don't they say olive oil is healthy for you? But that's 100% FAT!!! There is good fat, and there is bad fat. You can learn about this further from the internet, or if you wish, I can give a little lesson. Just ask!

They are 10-15% fat, most of which is good fat. And they are also about 7% fiber, which is one of the highest of any fruit.

as long as tdub tells me they are healthy, im gonna keep eating them, then if i get fatter i can blame it on dr. tww.

but seriously, what are some easy recipes with avocados, i can eat them just sliced up and spritzed with lime juice, but let's be creative!
