I think I see where he's coming from with that quote. I don't know if I would equate it to socialism, though. It's more of the idea that the government should reward the private entities that fail (they did with the bailouts, and continue to reward banks for giving out bad loans), while punishing successful companies/individuals with increased taxes and "windfall profits" taxes. So, it's not so much socialism that's the problem, but the utter stupidity demonstrated by the U.S. government.

Yes, it's based on the false pretense that the result would have been different under a McCain Administration. The bailouts would have occurred regardless of the leader, because the US government willed it. The bailouts were not exclusive to Obama specifically.

I wouldn't try to blame it entirely Obama. The reality, though, is that he's continued the same mistakes of Bush. He didn't end the wars. He certainly hasn't cut spending, in fact, he has encouraged spending. He's doing the opposite of what needs to be done.

I don't know about that. Many districts will continue to mindlessly re-elect incumbents because they have the right letter next to their name. A lot of voters are guided by partisanship (us versus them mentality) rather than principles. If you want to stay in office, you tell voters what they want to hear, not the truth.
