So the bf doesn't do salt, says sodium is bad for you. I don't really care either way, but I'm cutting it out too to be a good girlfriend. What the hell can you eat instead??? Lemon/lime, worcestershire... red pepper? What can possibly approach the tastebud-orgasm of salt?

what a 'mo
11/18/2009 11:43:12 AM
bacon
11/18/2009 11:43:18 AM
sodium in excess is bad for you, sodium in general is necessary for you to keep up a proper mix of salts and mineralshope yall dont chug too much water or you'll die
11/18/2009 11:44:16 AM
I have high blood pressure so i drastically limit my salt intakei recommend garlic or Mrs. Dash
11/18/2009 11:44:17 AM
No bacon either, that shit is fatty yo.[Edited on November 18, 2009 at 11:45 AM. Reason : ^Mrs. Dash... hm... looking that up now. BTW, current BF had a heart attack, just splainin'.]
11/18/2009 11:44:23 AM
i have never understood why people salt so many things. i prefer the taste of my food to the taste of salt with only a hint of the taste of whatever it is I am eating. that being said, you can eat all the same stuff. just don't salt it. you'll find that there is a lot of natural flavor in foods. it may take you a week or two to get used to it, but you'll be just fine.

Salt is actually good for you if you are an athlete and you sweat alot.I'd recommend gramps to add some excercise and leave the salt intake the same as long as you guys arent eating processed foods that are crammed with sodium.Sea salt is best btw
11/18/2009 11:54:29 AM
^^Not necessarily... So besides Mrs. Dash, any other suggestions?^We do use sea salt when we use it at all, and just a little. Exercising everyday... just really bland food. We both are looking for alternatives.[Edited on November 18, 2009 at 11:55 AM. Reason : .]
my girlfriend drives me nuts because she puts salt on everything, before she even tastes it. she put salt on her pizza last night
11/18/2009 11:55:06 AM
i made a pretty bangin' worcestershire/chive infused butter this weekendsauteed shallots/garlic, unsalted butter sticks, fresh chives, worcestershire, throw that shit in the food processor, roll it up, cool it,was good on some cracked pinkpeppercorn crusted filets... and taters]

No salt, no red meat, and more importantly NO BACON? Damn.I've been eating a lot of meatless meals lately because the girlfriend is going through a phase where meat just doesn't appeal to her, but I could not completely give it up. Especially bacon. While I don't salt the hell out of things (I almost never add salt at the table), using it judiciously during the cooking process helps bring out the flavor, not cover it up.
