So the bf doesn't do salt, says sodium is bad for you. I don't really care either way, but I'm cutting it out too to be a good girlfriend.

What the hell can you eat instead??? Lemon/lime, worcestershire... red pepper? What can possibly approach the tastebud-orgasm of salt?

sodium in excess is bad for you, sodium in general is necessary for you to keep up a proper mix of salts and minerals

i have never understood why people salt so many things. i prefer the taste of my food to the taste of salt with only a hint of the taste of whatever it is I am eating.

that being said, you can eat all the same stuff. just don't salt it. you'll find that there is a lot of natural flavor in foods. it may take you a week or two to get used to it, but you'll be just fine.

Whoa. How old is he?

Mrs. Dash is good. You don't need to cut salt from your own diet unless you have high blood pressure. If it's low, then you should probably make sure to consume some salt.

"Q: Doctor, I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this
true?
A: Heart only good for so many beats, and that it... Don't waste on
exercise. Everything wear out eventually. Speed up heart not make live
longer; that like say you can extend life of car by driving faster. Want
live longer? Take nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?
A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does cow eat? Hay and corn.
What are these? Vegetables. So, steak nothing more than efficient mechanism
of delivering vegetables to system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef also good
source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And pork chop can give 100%
recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?
A: No, not at all. Wine made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine. That
means they take water out of fruity bit; get even more of goodness that way.
Beer also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?
A: If you have body and you have fat, ratio is one to one. If you have two
bodies, ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise
program?
A: Cannot think of single one, sorry. My philosophy: No Pain...Good!

Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you?
A: YOU NOT LISTENING!!! .... Foods fried in vegetable oil. How getting more
vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the
middle?
A: Definitely not! When you exercise muscle, it get bigger. You should only
do sit-ups if want bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?
A: You crazy? HELLO .... Cocoa beans! Vegetable!!! Cocoa beans best
feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?
A: If swimming good for figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?
A: Hey! 'Round' is shape!

Salt is actually good for you if you are an athlete and you sweat alot.
I'd recommend gramps to add some excercise and leave the salt intake the same as long as you guys arent eating processed foods that are crammed with sodium.
Sea salt is best btw

^^Not necessarily...

So besides Mrs. Dash, any other suggestions?

^We do use sea salt when we use it at all, and just a little. Exercising everyday... just really bland food. We both are looking for alternatives.

Damn, that sounds delicious. But we're not eating red meat either! Maybe on some baked chicken...

^^We're doing about an hour of aerobics in the evening. Weight loss goal is about 30 lbs. for him, 15 lbs for me.

No salt, no red meat, and more importantly NO BACON? Damn.

I've been eating a lot of meatless meals lately because the girlfriend is going through a phase where meat just doesn't appeal to her, but I could not completely give it up. Especially bacon.

While I don't salt the hell out of things (I almost never add salt at the table), using it judiciously during the cooking process helps bring out the flavor, not cover it up.
