I use spaces a lot to organize my working space but with OS features like expose and (not sure what windows 7 calls it) but windows 7's easy/intuitive way of finding the exact window you want...do you find yourself less likely to use spaces/multiple desktops?

to be honest, i solved that problem for myself by just using dual monitors. i still prefer to just be able to see more, rather than forcing myself to organize it into various workspaces.

I use dual monitors at work but still use spaces/expose because I have so many windows open...

I almost always have Photoshop, Coda/Eclipse, iChat, Safari, Firefox, Windows 7 VM, terminal, iTunes, Mail, and Tweetie open every day while at work which is a lot to keep organized between two monitors... It gets crowded quick

I'm not sure what feature you are referring to in Windows 7. Are you referring to the new Alt+Tab Aero thing where it rotates between open windows? I don't really consider that a desktop switcher type program. If you are referring to something else (or if anybody knows of a good desktop switcher app for Windows 7) please enlighten me.

Sheesh. Why do you need Safari and Firefox. And... Tweetie?

For me: Outlook, Softphone, Firefox, Problem Log Database.

people think i'm crazy at work when they see how much shit i keep open

5-10 excel files almost all the time
a few word files usually
outlook always
couple of pdf's
maybe photoshop
maybe adobe premiere
and possibly solidworks
firefox always

and occasionally all of that

i don't get much done without at least two monitors

[Edited on November 24, 2009 at 2:00 PM. Reason : oh, and add in at least one RDP..sometimes two]

that + the task bar management...hovering over an application icon in your taskbar will display all windows for that application which i consider to be an 'expose' type functionality and very well done. I don't consider this or expose to be multiple desktop functions. Spaces is but i don't know that windows 7 has something similar.

cross browser testing and Safari is my primary browser because its a lot faster and better than Firefox.

Ive really been liking the spaces on my imac; one of the few things I prefer over the interface on my PCs

Spaces is nice, especially when you configure it to assign different apps to different spaces. Launching said apps will automatically open in their assigned space.

honestly I've never been as happy as I was when I had 3 monitors.

2 is.... ok. 3 is the sweet spot for me.

i tried using Spaces at work for OS X, but gave up using it for serious multitasking a month later. it simply can't keep it up. haven't found a good alternative, unfortunately. :/

I used to use VirtuaWin.

But since 7 came out, I just use two computers and a remote desktop session.

But VirtuaWin works, and the sysinternals Desktops program works too.

I use Spaces with apps assigned to automatically open in them. 6 Spaces total, 2 wide by 3 tall. At any point in time I have open Entourage, Adium, Firefox, iTunes, VMWare Fusion, Evernote, a Citrix session, and various Office apps (usually PPT, sometimes Excel or Word).
