long story short, i dropped my phone and it cut off, turned it back on and it says FTM mode and i have no service and none of my contacts, message history, call history, etc. I did some research and tried the whole "standalone mode" on then off again and rebooted it and now it says "service required." anyone ever heard of this happening or know how to fix it? i've looked at a bunch of sites but none of the solutions work for me. thanks.

Seriously, it's probably toast. Time to get a new one.

yeah, it sounds like you fucked up the flash on your phone... it doesn't just randomly go into field test mode for no reason usually...

take it to the verizon store.

Yeah, they'll cut you some sort of deal, normally, in the case you don't have insurance on your phone.

If its not under warranty 1 year price on a new one.

Go ahead and get a blackberry or android phone then you can backup your info in the future.
