The Surpreme Court orders something, and that makes Obama = Shrub? 11/30/2009 5:57:17 PM |
smc All American 9221 Posts user info edit post |
The order to censor the photos(file as many lawsuits as necessary to bury them) came directly from Obama. Greg Craig, the white house legal counsel, pushed him to release the photos, close Guantanamo and reverse many of Bush's ne'er-do-well doings. He ultimately resigned because Obama ignored him.

The war is escalating, secret prisons are still operating and I'd wager domestic surveillance is continuing uninterrupted as well. Same shit different guy. 11/30/2009 6:12:10 PM |

^ Except in this case, the Supreme Court agreed with the executive branch. On detainee issues, the Supreme Court overturned some extremely large policy decisions made by the Bush administration.

I don't give a shit what the supreme court does. They're just kings on their thrones. If you rely on the supreme court for sound moral guidance you're in for disappointment. One doesn't have to look very hard to find supreme court decisions that were pure evil shrouded in technicalities and hand-washing.
In this case Obama didn't even do anything wrong...until he decided to cover up. We're not talking about temporary censorship of troop movements here. These are just embarrassing photos from a dark time in our history being censored for political reasons. They don't care about the opinion of the muslim world...they're already pissed-off anyway. Those towelheads get offended over fucking cartoons for christs sake.
How can the terrorists hate our freedoms if they're not allowed to see them operate?

You've found me out. My entire argument is about the photos. Just the photos. Oh how I wish I could see those photos. I'd plaster them on my walls. A shrine of naked prisoner pyramids. If only they'd release those precious photos, freedom would be restored and liberty would ring from the shining seas. 11/30/2009 6:38:44 PM |

my suspicion is that releasing the photos implicates specific people, which will necessitate an investigation that’s going to end up moving up the ladder in the CIA and possibly to people in the past whitehouse, which is not really a hornets nest the Obama admin wants to take a swing at now, for various reasons. 11/30/2009 8:05:32 PM |

no. because there are limited resources and the federal gov't can't be implicated as aiding and abetting in every crime they choose not to prosecute.11/30/2009 9:08:55 PM |

Unfortunately I agree with the increased troop levels in Afghanistan. Since Pakistan is trying its hardest to dissolve as a nation, we actually have to be there to keep the competing forces in check because the alternatives are pretty bleak. 12/1/2009 2:09:24 AM |

I heard the liberal base is crying that obama is sending troops instead of flowers and kisses to Afghanistan. boo fucking hoo. Afghanistan is the one place where we genuinely have a reason to be there for. Pulling out will just destabalize the country and turn it over to a new generation of USA haters. 12/1/2009 8:47:25 AM |
