Has anyone had success grabbing broadcast stations when you only subscribe to internet with your cable company? Do the video traps typically block those frequencies as well? I've googled a little, but haven't really found much.

Yeah, I must not have let the entire scan finish the first time I tried this months ago. I just got that LiquidTV slickdeal (nero software is complete crap but 29.99 for a tivo remote, WinTV-HVR-950, and 1yr tivo service was more than worth it).

Looks like I have 13 digital channels from Suddenlink.

If you dont get anything, subscribe to basic cable for a month and then cancel it. They will have to come out to remove whatever blockers they have on your line, but the technicians rarely come out specifically to put them back on.

SUDDENLINK

WE'RE CONNECTEDDDDDDDDD

but yeah, seriously, subscribe to standard cable for a month (not even basic). since there's no equipment for you to return, i can almost guarantee that they won't do a truck roll JUST to go put filters back on your line.

Scenario time.

Outside is your typical cable box designed for a multi-room wired duplex. Right now only my room is live. Source cable is coupled to the one lead and the 3 others in question are just hanging there.

I've broken it off with a mediocre splitter for cable modem and tv-tuner and seem to get my 12mbit/768k even while watching TV.

Is there a solution I can use to split the source signal outside 4 times with little to no internet degradation? If so, what specs should I look for when I make a trip to Lowes?

--
Initial research indicates this might not be possible as there is no power for an amplified splitter outside. How would Suddenlink do this if I had requested cable/internet package? Just put a high gain splitter out there and hope that I won't notice the signal/speed drop on my modem? Or split the source cable once for the internet and TV and then split the TV side 3 more times?

or comparable product (like this: http://www.summitsource.com/product_info.php?ref=1&products_id=6901 - $39)

just make sure the amp has a passive port on it for your cable modem or you'll start hating life
