put the mouse over the thread title it gives you a preview of the first post, so you can already know whether itd be a waste of time or not

will also eliminate stupid parody threads, lyrics threads, and joke threads

prolly the first 3-5 lines of text worth would be previewed, its pretty effective in other forums

ive seen this be done on other forums

except it was with the last post

ie, from chit chat, you would hover over the thread and see the last post first x number of characters.


however, what i havent seen is this being impleneted where it wasnt just annoying as shit while trying to click around on threads

well ive seen it used where u hover for about 1 second before the preview popped up

which is why ive not seen it as an annoyance

Maybe have it as an option that people can choose to have the rollovers or not. Some people love these things (myself included), but I can definitely see it being annoying to others.

harmony central does this, but the forums are down now. i like it because i can avoid all the stupid/troll threads that people title improperly. it works kind of like hovering over an icon in windows; it appears after a second of hovering then disappears a second later. its vBulletin as well IIRC
