I just got Tropico 3 and I love the shit out of these games.

For the uninitiated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropico_3

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G97BrR83gAA

Quote :
"The game attempts to return to the roots of the series, putting the player into the shoes of "El Presidente" - a dictator governing over an island banana republic."

So what are you playing?

I tried playing the Tropico 3 demo on the xbox but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to do anything but zoom in and pan the map lol.

I, too, love the tropico series and had the first one...played the shit out of it.

I am currently back to playing Civilization IV and the expansions.

^^^Isn't there supposed to be another STALKER game coming out? I loved SoC and Clear Sky... despite several game ending bugs (usually scripted events that never fire) that both had.

^^I've never played System Shock 2 (or 1 for that matter) but I hear nothing but good things about it. Is it one of those things where you had to be in on the action when it first came out? Here's an example of what I'm getting at. The original Diablo was an excellent game but if I never played it back in the day and picked it up today for the first time I'd stop playing after a few minutes. Would System Shock 2 be to dated to play coming into it cold?

Just finished:
Dragon Age - Pretty good, but I don't see myself going for a second playthrough any time soon.
Torchlight - Decent enough. The novelty wore off after a day or so though. It's like Diablo 2 with about 25% of the variety and minus the multiplayer.
Borderlands - I might come back to this one sometime in the future.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed -- Ultimate Sith Edition - Never played it on a console. This game was absolute crap. Had to force myself to finish it.

Just started:
Machinarium - Puzzle game. Some of the puzzles you solve are very, very obscure. I have a feeling this game won't last me very long.

Looking for other game to play. I was thinking of checking out Avatar, but the reviews aren't that inspiring. Same goes for Lego Indiana Jones 2.

tropico 3 was a lot of fun; beat it a few weeks ago. the only thing i wish it had was the ability to invade other islands/nations. i mean you had an army base and could build an army so why not have the ability to use them offensively?

i have "the saboteur" on my plate now but due to the horrendous lag problems, i have to wait till EA releases the patch to fix the issues me and the other 95% of people are having with the game. then i will actually play it which i cant wait to do.

i also have red faction guerilla but havent played that in weeks; i've kinda given up on it.. got lil bored of it to be honest. only got thru 2 of the zones if i remember right.

Zel, I waited on hands and feet for 5 years (special rank/title on forums for it) for Darkfall to go into beta, and I was one of the first beta testers, and one of the first to offer steep criticism at launch. If you think that's the shit, you need to reassess your expectations, especially for what you have to pay with that game. Albeit it's definitely fun and if I had a ton of disposable income I'd still play it.

^I mean I started playing on EU and transfered to NA after it opened and they offered free transfers, and if you havent played in in a while, then you need to check it back out, the game is getting fucking crazy now. They have released 2 FREE huge expansions, this last one entitled "Conquer the Seas" and is fucking crazy, easier to build big ass ships now and there are water objectives like sea fortresses to take over and own. Also there is a giant fucking Kraken in the middle of the ocean that can destroy an entire navy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBOHCWC1Wek

And really? I mean it was really only expensive at first because of the fucking exchange rate to Euros, but it's no more expensive than WoW and I'm having more fun in the 1st year of this game than I ever did in wow, pussies need not apply to this game (when you die, people can loot all your shit, but it's not hard to get gear really). Sandbox mmo's ftw.

Nope, both of the games are STILL amazing, the sound effects alone in this game were so intense for the era it was released, use to freak me the fuck out.

Star Wars: Rebellion (yes, I'm serious), Empire Total War

I may reinstall Civ IV though that's usually pretty dangerous. I don't have the heart yet to replay my way through Dragon Age: Origins.

finally got "the saboteur" to work due to EA releasing a beta patch to fix all the problems. nothing like releasing a game that can't be played by majority of systems due to shitty programming.. but that's another story. game is pretty fun; it's like a WW2 GTA game almost. you can drive around in different cars and do different missions: either story-line or side missions, different weapons available, disguises available are what remind me the most of GTA4 for example. i'll continue to play until i get bored of it or something else comes along.

^ I just started that game last night. I haven't patched it yet, I don't really see a need to at the moment. Absolutely no bugs. I guess it's a 50/50 shot at having problems or not having problems and it seems like the people that have the most problems are the ones with ATI video cards.

To me the game had elements of:
Prototype - Disguises. Alert level.
Red Faction: Guerrilla War - Sneak in, set a bomb, blow it up, run away. Limited in the number of weapons you can carry. The game felt like it had more in common with RF:GW than any other game out there, including GTA IV.
GTA IV - for that added racing element.

Also playing Lego Indiana Jones 2

damn you were one of the lucky ones to not have to patch; you are certainly one of the very few. the hardest hit were people running ATI cards but a good amount of people running nVidia cards reported problems too. the EA game forums have been insane the past 2 weeks with all the reports from people.

good point about prototype and RF:G, didnt think of those games in my comparison. but definitely agree with your assessment regarding the 2.

Just got Dragon Age: Origins.

Will shortly begin playing Dragon Age: Origins.

It is possible that it will be a long time before I stop playing Dragon Age: Origins.

to jbtilley:

System Shock 2 is still a fantastic game. It has a very scary/creeyp atmosphere that very few other games can rival, an intriguing and rewarding RPG-like stat system, and combat that was way ahead of its time. There are 2 problems, however. The first problem is that it is fairly difficult to find although you would probably find it eventually if you looked on torrent sites. The second problem is that the game comes with a learning curve. There's a lot going on with the controls and how the game is played; if you have the patience to do the tutorials and become familiar with everything, then you should be good to go.

One more thing: If you have arachnophobia, you might want to pass on this one.

^^^Thanks. I'll keep all that in mind.

One thing The Saboteur could have benefited greatly from... just press up to climb buildings. Press A again only if you want to jump laterally. Pressing A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A A just to go up gets old extremely quick.
