Is this a straight sequel to Red Dead Revolver that came out for PS2 a few years ago? I played that game through at a friends house one afternoon and it was a lot of fun.

Rumors of a prequel, Red Dead Revolver 2, were circulating around since 2005 ever since Rockstar showed a video of an Old West horseback rider running on early PlayStation 3 hardware. Rockstar was fairly secretive with a game in the works, simply known as "Old West Project".

On February 4, 2009, Red Dead Redemption was announced for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 for a Fall 2009 release.[4] It was later delayed until Q4 2009, which spans November 2009 to April 2010.[5] On November 27th, it was announced that Red Dead Redemption would see a US release date of April 27, 2010



Based on the plot lines though, this is not a prequel but nor is it a direct sequel. I guess they put it best...its a successor

can't wait for this shit. westerns are severely underrepresented in gaming. the call of juarez games were great, and this looks amazing.

I'm sure it will come out in 6 months or so. Plus Rockstar games have never been very moddable.

well hopefully the do it on the PC. and you're mistaken - all the GTA games have lots of mods on the PC - hell, someone modded an entire online multiplayer facet into san andreas

Loved Red Dead Revolver and this one looks really awesome.

I hope they have the option to play through with only head shots like the last one did after you beat it once.

i have had the idea for a wild west game since i was 10, and it would be like battlefield mixed with an role playing game and you could pick the class you wanted and stuff... that being said i will definitely keep an eye on this game.

I'm sick and tired of playing games with characters that talk to you with piss poor dialogue, silly accents, and an unblinking stare with zero movement.

That wasn't the best dialogue I've ever heard or anything, but it's presented pretty damn well.

About the only thing keeping me from pre-ordering this game is the complete and utter absence of footage from the PS3 version. Granted, if it's using the GTA4 engine, it's probably fine but I'd rather not take the risk. Plus, if the PS3 version turns out to be vastly inferior, it'll give me a good excuse to wait for the eventual PC release.

I'm talking about strictly technical issues. Hell even GTA4 was buggy as hell when it was first released. I remember tons of glitches and crashes during the first couple weeks, especially with the multiplayer. It was mostly fixed after a couple patches but I'm not paying $60 to beta test for a lazy developer again.

Some developers always show from one console for consistency, ie some menus / huds are different. I doubt its so glitchy that they can't show it at this point.
