The anti-feminist attack on Hadassah Lieberman
December 16, 2009

Quote :
"To a self-described 'old feminist' such as Hadassah Lieberman, the recent blog-inspired attack against her -- all related to husband Joe Lieberman's obstruction of the Democrats' health-care agenda -- has been a surreal mix of 'McCarthyism' and a 'snowball fight on the playground.'

Actually, ambush is a better word."

Get Lieberman
December 17, 2009

Quote :
"
The most endangered species in Washington may well be the moderate. Consider the long knives pointed at the heart of Sen. Joe Lieberman.

The Connecticut Democrat-turned-independent (but caucusing with the Dems) announced that he would not support Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's plan to pass Obamacare by allowing Americans who are 55 or older to by into Medicare. Given that Medicare is, as Lieberman put it, 'on the verge of insolvency,' he made the right call - and for that, the left wing of his party has savaged Joe the Senator as a sellout and turncoat."

The politics of personal destruction
18 December 2009

Quote :
"Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) recent invectives and historical rewrites are perfect examples of their unlimited and far-reaching commitment to force their political agenda on Americans. With poll numbers crashing for support for both the health care bill and for Cap and Trade legislation, they resort to the very unstatesman-like art of the politics of personal destruction."

Quote :
"Pelosi and Reid have done their level best to engage in the politics of personal destruction, and to stigmatize the right-wing by attempting to rewrite history. A shameful utilization of mistruths and lies and a set of Machievellian ‘win at all cost’ attacks to further their political objectives. It’s no surprised both have record low poll ratings, and Reid is in jeopardy of losing his Senate seat next November."

All of this is assuming Lieberman has a shred of credibility left

Which is obviously not the case.

So why would attacking him reduce the credibility of his detractors?

^^ not many Congressmen / Senators do, people tend to just display their ire at those who disagree with them, viewing those opposed to their policies as obstructionists of the will of the people while the same obstructionists, when supporting a position one holds dear, are protectors of the republic against the tyranny of the majority (or special interests, take your pick).

This bill has been brought forward by slowly buying moderates off with promises of pork to their respective districts / states, not by any large consensus building or powerful public will.

Keith Olbermann Calls Joe Lieberman A 'Senatorial Prostitute' (VIDEO)
December 16, 2009

Quote :
"Keith Olbermann's promised Special Comment on the latest version of H-R 35-90 was anything but a snoozer. Olbermann not only vowed to break the law if forced to purchase the health insurance, he called Joe Lieberman a 'Senatorial [sic] prostitute' and said that President Obama 'could be further to the right than Reagan.'

I guess you could say this health care thing is getting pretty heated."

Sure, and I accept that.

But the deal with Lieberman isn't necessarily that he's beholden to any special interest groups-- it's that a) he's been so completely, comically wrong on everything for the past 6 years or so, and b) his radical shifts in stance seem more oriented towards getting attention and screwing liberals than improving our healthcare system.

fair enough, but this whole bill is about getting power and little about fixing the healthcare system . . . so in reality he's only different in style, not substance.

i'm confused about the part here with K.O. why are you questioning his credibility when he's making a public effort to stand behind his principles? he's been going on for months now about healthcare issues, so this isn't anything new for him. there's no credibility issue there.

just another thread for "omg librullls ruinin' owwahhh great nation"

^ Is it appropriate for Olbermann, the host of a so-called newscast, to call a senator a "prostitute" simply because they disagree about a policy issue? This is credible to you?

When did Olbermann's show become a newscast? He's just another opinion guy like Hannity and Beck, and if they cancontinually try to fabricate outrage against public officials then he's certainly allowed to call one prostitute.

How typical of you left-wing moonbats here to focus on the style of a post of mine rather than the substance--and you're just as typically wrong about both. I didn't use the word "news"; I used the word "newscast," which is the way MSLSD describes the show in question.

Now, after all that bullshit and your typical flapping, foaming gaggle, would you care to answer the questions I posed? Or would you simply like to attack me some more?

liberals lose credibility because they don't like somebody who disagrees with them. also, keith olbermann represents all liberals and his show is billed in a description as a newscast, unlike all the other pundits out there.

should we dredge up some of the conservative attacks on RINOs? really this isn't a partisan thing, it's a political thing just like people wanting to kick lindsey graham out of the GOP.

but in hooksaw world, it's BAD NEWS!!! FOR LIBERALS!!!!

I find most punditry shows to be annoying on some level or another, but I think there's a place in the dialog for some of their commentary. It's just a matter of if you swallow it hook, line and sinker. Keith Olbermann isn't what's wrong in the world, but he's not the solution either. Get over it.

I've watched Hardball for going on about 7 or 8 years now and I really don't care if it's a stupid pundit show, some people just need to be put in their place whether it's Paul Begala or someone whose even dumber than kooksaw like Michelle Bachman.

My dad also made me watch Crossfire and The McLaughlin Group as a kid, so I think it rubbed off. He watches HB, too, ever since he decided Bill O Rly was obnoxious around 2004 or so.

Why the hell am I talking about what cable shows I watch? Oh yeah, because there's nothing else to say in this thread since hooksaw thinks he's arguing with the regular partisan hacks at Daily Kos or Democratic Underground or something. It's like he reads some press release from MoveOn.org, thinks that every liberal is reading that and will thus be parroting it, and flies into a TWW rage to educate the young liberals with his knowledge.

You did realize that a Masters of Liberal Studies didn't mean a "Masters in the study of liberals" right?

Wow, I must've really touched a nerve with the left-wing moonbats here. I offer the following quick observations: (1) Posting all that shit that some of you posted doesn't make it so; (2) Olbermann was simply one example among many--some of you seem a bit too defensive about it to me; and (3) as always, if you don't like the topic or me, you're free not to click on this thread--but you just can't stop yourselves from receiving that little charge, can you?

I think Lieberman's mistake was encouraging compromises that no one supports.

The population doesn't always support moderates, they support what's best for them, and virtually no one supports legislation that functions only as political theater.

^MTV is a network that specifically caters to a liberal demographic. It's what they do. You know, to make money.

timeline of events:

-hooksaw posts a quote from msnbcs website that says that countdown uses the word "newscast" and claims that it isn't news.

-everyone points out that it's obvious that countdown isn't a news show

-I post a link from foxnews that describes the oreilly factor as a news show, showing that both sides do the exact same thing

-hooksaw says that there's a difference between referring to a show as "news" and "newscast," which is retarded and calls everyone left-wing moonbats.

-no one terminates hooksaws account and this mess continues forever

I guess this can go here . . .

Quote :
"Sen. John Kerry has suggested becoming the first high-level U.S. emissary to make a public visit to Tehran since the 1979 Islamic revolution, a move White House officials say they won't oppose.

The offer comes as mass protests against Iran's regime are resurfacing and a U.S.-imposed deadline nears to broach international sanctions against Iran.

"This sounds like the kind of travel a chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee would -- and should -- undertake," said a White House official, adding it would be at Sen. Kerry's own behest."

What is the discussion to be had here? What kind of discussion are you supposed to have on this? Were you really expecting a spirited defense of this from people or were you just going to use this as another strawman to knock down and claim victory.

Here's the part where you call me and everyone a troll for telling you that this is a dumb issue to discuss, all because you're mad that noone takes you seriously.

Look, you're not accomplishing anything here. You obviously want to beat up on dumb liberals who love Olbermann, follow MoveOn.org 100%, and want to primary every Blue Dog out there. You'd be more at home here:
