also, lol @ the Shavlik Randolph Foundation

this came last week

Quote :
"BIGGEST RECRUITING BUST: Shavlik Randolph, Duke
As a senior at Broughton High in Raleigh, N.C., the 6-10 forward scored 70 points in a game to break a school record held by Pete Maravich. He was a two-time Parade and McDonald's All-American who was the 12th ranked prospect in the Class of 2002 by Scout.com. However, in three injury- and illness-plagued seasons in Durham, Randolph averaged just 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds while starting less than half of Duke's games. After his junior season, he declared himself eligible for the NBA draft. He went undrafted and is currently playing 11.5 minutes per game for the Miami Heat, his third NBA team in five seasons."

^^^Tennessee was the school that was really coming after him. I'm sure they are still interested, but I think they are looking at a transfer for their last scholarship...

WRAL is reporting that Walton won by 1 pt over Millbrook in OT.

Stat line says Harrow had 35 pts and 2 assists, but 8 turnovers

Anyone there want to give any details?

last I heard he was still committed, but might look around if he thought he wouldn't play early...it seems like he can get all the minutes he wants with how Painter and Howell are playing. He has 13 points and 10 boards at the half.

^^ it wasn't in OT, but it did come down to a last second shot by one of Ryan's teammates who Ryan passed to.

Ryan looked amazing out there, he does a lot of things that look effortless. He was fouled a lot driving to the rim and made many of his points off of free throws. The only negative thing I can say is that he took a couple of shots behind the rim and missed them all, and most of the turnovers were from him being in a tough spot and dribbling out of bounds, or getting a bad pass by a teammate.

But other than that he had some great passes, a few steals and some really nice moves beneath the basket.

I'm pumped.

I also saw the first half of Luke's game after Ryan's and wasn't too impressed. He had one block, and maybe 4 points I think? He seemed soft down low and never really took it to the basket, he also tried a couple 3's that made me go wtf? He did get fouled a couple times and made just about all of his free throws. I guess I was expecting him to be a lot more aggressive than what he showed.

Based just on what I saw today, I'd be okay if we didn't get Cothron.

edit: Sidney Lowe, Larry Harris, and Tracy Smith were all there as well, I could have missed some others. On a couple of Ryan's plays I saw CJ Leslie get excited because they were so nice.

edit: okay I take what I said about Luke back, apparently he had a double double at halftime. Didn't realize he was getting so many rebounds.

Cothron finishes with 27 points, 12 boards, 4 blocks and 2 assists...don't know how much more you could expect from him.

Yeah, I was surprised that Cothron led all scorers with 27. He got a lot of points from the free throw line, but I only remember one or two times he manufactured his own shot. There were a bunch of jumpers over smaller guys. My brother and I thought he looked very Brandon Costner-esque out there.

Harrow looks good. I think he would have taken a few more guys off the dribble, but he got called for carrying 4 times.

^ That's about what I was thinking, he has the talent, just seems sort of... slow or something.

i agree about cothron. i was there and didn't like his body language. it looked like he was getting on his teammates for stuff that seemed to be more his fault as well. this coupled with his comments about wanting to start makes me not care too much if we land him or not.

harrow, on the other hand...whew. his shot wasn't falling at first, but as you can tell from the stat line, he was all over the court making things happen. and of course he got his points too. the refs nearly crippled him too, taking away his crossover (calling bs double dribbles), but he still didn't let that stop him.

also it was nice to see cj leslie chattin it up with tracy smith as i was walking in. kid better not pull a john wall.

Kinston beats Walton in a thriller of a game. Ryan Harrow scored 25 and was battling the flu throughout and had to be helped off the floor and was taken to the hospital for an IV; he's expected to be okay.
