I dunno, regardless of the decision there will be second guessers. To put things in perspective, the year the Pats went 16-0 they were absolutely dominant, outscoring their opponents by +315 points. Right now the Colts are sitting at +132, which is the 4th best scoring margin. What does this number mean really? Perhaps nothing, but in my eyes it means that the Colts just aren't THAT dominant. Yes, they are a great team, but they have had to eke out so many wins this year that they could very easily have 3-4 losses.

I guess what I am getting at is that two years ago it was obvious who the best team in the league was. Yes, the Giants got hot at the right time and managed to win the big one, but I don't think there was any doubt in anyones mind who the best team in the league was that year - the Pats. But this year, the Saints, Chargers, and Vikings all are arguably better, even though the Colts were 14-0. By resting Manning and company, they are getting 3 weeks to rest up for a likely showdown with the Pats in their opening game. Lets not forget that the Pats dominated Indy for 3.5 quarters a couple months ago too.

If you remember, the Pats beat the Giants in thhe last regular season game to go 16-0, giving the Giants a good look at their plays, schemes, etc. If in fact the Patriots would have rested their starters and went 15-1, its very possible the Giants would have not had the "intel" they did and thus would have not won the Superbowl. I think resting the starters and focusing on the playoffs is the right move for this team.

It sucks for the other AFC wild card teams that the Jets played Indy at the right time, got a win they probably wouldn't have, and now are in control of a playoff spot that 4-5 other teams are trying to play for. It's not fair to them and the NFL.
