Is it just me or do they suck? I fucking hate watching football when it seems like it really is just a glorified preseason game.

I broke some ribs before, and that was some excruciating pain. I never realized how tough NFL players really are until I got older and dealt with some of the injuries that they have.

Romo is really predictable when he actually wants it hiked. He will do a ton of talking then it's always 'omaha omaha set' when he wants it hiked. Perhaps it varies with the drive.

I think it would be interesting to go back over the season and see how many Dallas Games Joe Buck and Troy Aikman called. I would bet it was over half

tonight's game should be a really good one. the jets have to win, and i think the bengals are trying to jump the pats. is that right?

i think that's right but who knows all the playoff scenarios in the AFC I know if Baltimore wins they are in, the Pats are sunk if Welker is lost for the season.

I'm pretty sure I saw earlier that Dallas would be the three seed Arizona the 4 Philly the five and gb the 6

"In the NFC, if the big leads currently held by the Cowboys and Packers hold up …

New Orleans and Minnesota will capture the top two seeds, respectively, and the first-round byes that come with them.
Dallas will win the NFC East and as the No. 3 seed, will host No. 6 seed Philadelphia in the wild-card round.
Arizona will be locked into the No. 4 seed and play host to fifth-seeded Green Bay in the wild-card round."

and even then they'd play the bengals, not the pats. jets/bengals is the only possible afc rematch

Is this the first year they've allowed inter-divisional games in the wild-card round (Philly vs Dallas)? From what I remember they were always preventing this.

just scanning the wikipedia results for the past several years, its happened a good bit in the past. also, i'm not sure how they would prevent it since everything is based on an algorithmic seeding

Really? I can't think of it happening recently. And they'd prevent it the same way it's prevented in baseball -- they'd force divisional opponents to play the other teams, no matter what the seeding is.

here we go

Quote :
"For the 1990 season, a third wild card team for each conference was added, expanding the playoffs to twelve teams. The lowest-seeded division winner was then "demoted" to the wild card week. Also, the restrictions on intra-divisional games during the Divisional Playoffs were removed.[13] This format continued until the 2002 expansion and reorganization into eight divisions. In this current format, as explained above, the 4 division winners and 2 wild cards are seeded 1–6, with the top 2 seeds receiving byes, and the highest seed in each round guaranteed to play the lowest seed. Also, seeds, not regular-season records, determine the home-field advantage. Thus, it is possible that a division champion could host a wild card playoff team that has a better win-loss record [11]; This is frequently the case when the number 4 seed hosts the number 5 seed."

Here is a list of divisional rematches in the wildcard round since 2002-

2002 Cleveland at Pittsburgh
2004 Minnesota at Green Bay
2004 St. Louis at Seattle
2005 Pittsburgh at Cincinnati
2006 NY Giants at Philadelphia
2006 NY Jets at New England
2009 Philadelphia at Dallas

they changed jco's TD catch to a td run

i am now losing my fantasy championship by one half of a point because the 6 yards was enough to get under a 10 point break on receiving but not make a comprable one in rushing

I think it's crazy that 3 of the 4 games that will be played next week were already played this week.

^ Agreed. What are the freaking odds of that happening? Also I think the NFL should have a rule that wild card teams cannot play a team from their own division in the first round of the playoffs.

They should make the Eagles go play in Arizona and have the Packers play in Dallas. I think both of those match-ups would be better than having rematches next week. Plus I think it is going to be very tough for Dallas and GB to beat the same team two weeks in a row.

What about those years where that's unavoidable?

Case in point, 2006 -- Chicago and New Orleans had wrapped up the top 2 seeds, then Philly, Dallas, and New York all qualified for the playoffs along with Seattle. With 3 out of 4 non-bye-earning teams coming from the NFC East, two of them would have had to play each other.

In that case just let the natural seeding determine the games.
