It won't go into the new axle. The holes are lined up as I can see all the way through them without obstruction... any tips in knocking in the roll pin or other pins that may go in easier? 1/4/2010 11:56:40 AM |

I hate those bastards. Why a smart company like honda uses them is beyond me. Having the exact right size punch to hit it with is crucial.

Its solid metal... I beat it down a bit to make the "entry point" narrower... but still no dice. A friend of mine threw a nail in there to hold it together once when he couldn't get it to go in... I suppose that's my backup plan... 1/4/2010 1:07:41 PM |

The deal is that the stock one should be hollow. I've not seen a solid one or one that wasn't split before. A good whack or two usually suffices for the standard one. 1/4/2010 1:13:58 PM |

My favorite roll pin is the one that sticks in the door support on the Jeeps. They have a wave shaped cut, a long taper, and supposedly stay in place pretty well. One of 3 on my Cherokee did fall out and replacing it with whatever roll pin I could find ended with me breaking the door switch with the whack that put the pin in place 1/4/2010 3:51:06 PM |

^^Interesting... I have the old one and the new one... so I'm gonna try to file it down to see if I can get it started... not a whole bunch of swinging space for the hammer... Ok, so the axle was off by one spline! I managed to be able to move the joint back enough to re-align, so I didn't have to take everything apart again. Once it was lined up, it went in super fine.
