Per article I saw on yahoo, McGwire says he used roids throughout his career. This should officially end his chances of ever making the Hall now. I am glad he finally told the truth because I think Big Mac is actually a pretty good person, but made some bad choices.

He didn't really have much chance anyway I don't think since people knew this.

It will be on MLB network tonight with Bob Costas. Others will talk after including my fav Harold Reynolds.

this gives him a better chance at making the hall I would think now that he finally admitted it.

but he wont make it anyways so its a moot point.

I just hope others come clean now that he has.

While I don't think he'll get in anway, I do think this helps his chances instead of hurting them

See, how hard was that? If he would have said this from the beginning he might have had a tough few months but he would've admitted what we already knew, plus people could at least somewhat sympathize with that reason. He is never getting into the Hall regardless but at least it would be over with by now and the world would have "forgiven" him. But I don't think people really care what he says or does anymore, and he will forever be known for his defiance in his lies.

I'd love to know, not just surmise, but KNOW what percentage of baseball players are using or have used steroids since say, 1985. My totally useless guess would be something like 65-75%. McGwire, Sosa, Bonds, Clemens, Caminetti, 99% on Jeff Bagwell, A-Rod, Manny, Ortiz, probably Pujols, Pettite, Brett Boone... I'm having a hard time coming up with more than a handful of guys with a shot at the HOF who I'm not convinced did 'roids. Maddux, Glavine, Jeter, Todd Helton, Ichiro... that's about it.

The only one on that list that struck a chord with me is Pujols

I would be very disappointed if he is found out as a 'roider

Helton used to be a 40+ HR guy.. then suddenly dropped to like 15.. He's always been a great hitter for average and above average fielder, but he definitely lost some pop in there. Although maybe that's how it's supposed to be, hit 40+ when you're in your mid 20s, 30ish in your early 30's, and now hit about 15. I still wouldn't say he's definitely clean though

haha PUJOLS struck a cord?

You mean the dude who came out of nowhere and hit for 50 HR his entire career?

The guy who could barely get to first base in under 5 seconds as a 25 year old?

The guy who had as much flexibility as a first baseman at age 25 as Fred McGriff did at 40?

He's the guy that stuck out to you?

What else sticks out, erect penises touching your tonsils? Be serious.

Oh yeah, and he's an import which is the automatic yes. I'm not racist I just know Latin Pro Baseball players use steroids... would you really chance not getting out of poverty because of "ethics"??

Pudge is still a cinch first ballot HOF, IMO. Arguably best defensive catcher of all time, 2700+ hits, career .300 average, 14 time all start, but almost definitely a roider, but he's never really come under a ton of scrutiny, probably due to the huge drop in production at the tail of his still tailing career.

^Plus Pujols came up with the Cardinals as a teammate of McGwire. I'll be disappointed when it does come out that he's a roider, but I won't be surprised.

Oh, Ken Griffery Jr., probably not a roid head. Given what we now know about all his peers is it safe to say that he's the best position player of his generation by a pretty wide margin?

of course he goes on to say he didn't think it helped him hit home runs, these guys just admit the bare minimum until they are forced

Get the fuck off with that shit.

Are you kidding me rally? He was great as a rookie and has gotten slightly better if anything since the ban of roids. Quit hating. There is no evidence at all that he has cheated even in the slightest.

the only person who I would be pissed off if it came out that they juiced was Ken Griffey Jr.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY else would surprise me if it came out they were juicing

Pujols has been fat, slow, and inflexible since he got to the bigs, but he can hit like a mother fucker and has since the beginning.

I actually think he's not built like the rest of the guys who clearly roided. His arms aren't that big, his traps aren't bulging out of his collar, and he's kinda fat and sloppy.

^I agree with that, although I'm throwing Pujols in that category too.

Come on now. If Maddux came out and said he roided, you would be surprised. Glavine too.

As for the Pujols argument, I can see both sides. He was not highly regarded, shows up to spring training one season, hits like a bat out of hell, and has been pretty much awesome the last 9 years. Maybe he was just mis-scouted or maybe it was roids initially. Now that the game has been cleaned up significantly, I think he is just a great hitter.

Oh please. Until they actually do regular and random testing I'll consider baseball a dirty sport. On top of that there are still lots of other stuff, like HGH, that we can't test for. There's nothing cleaned up about baseball, they've just made the penalties for getting caught stiffer, they've done nothing to catch more players. The fact that the MLBPA refuses to even consider the idea of more testing speaks volumes.

^ Believe what you want, but MLB is probably cleaner than the NFL or NBA now. Plus you can just look at the players now and tell there is less juicing. Instead of these huge guys like Sosa, McGwire, Ron Gant, Man-Ram, etc you see more regular guys like Utley and Mauer putting up the good numbers.

Yeah there are still guys probably on roids and HGH, but the game is cleaner now than it was during Big Mac's years.

^ Sure It is funny how the baseball haters will just continue to rail on MLB steroid issue because they think the sport is boring and will not acknowledge that steps have been taken to clean up the game.

Yeah steroids are still a big deal in the news, but it is mainly dealing with actions in the past. Just look at the players now, they are not anywhere as big as they were just 5 years ago. Seriously people who hate on baseball because of the steroids scandal and then give a pass to the NFL for similar actions baffles me.

nba? the only major guy that could have been roiding was shaq, and while I wonder why no one has ever brought him up, I can't imagine it can be very widespread
