1.) two laptops: netbook and notebook; notebook has CD/DVD drive and netbook does not.

2.) is there a way to connect the two together (CAT5, USB, etc) that would allow me to put a disc in the notebook and read it on the netbook? I just need to install some stuff (a backup of my itunes lib: 4 DVDs) and would like to find a way to connect the two.

3.) possible?

4.) if not, other potential solutions? kthx

easy

download powerISO. create an image of the DVD or whatever it is (it comes out as a .iso file)

use a flash drive or something to put that file on, copy it over to the netbook. you could also use a cat5 cable to network the two computers together and transfer it over but that's asking for some possible PITA.

install powerISO on the driveless computer as well. open powerISO. go to mount, "mount image to x drive" and then select the .iso file.

done

also, i'm not sure..but i THINK you can share the DVD drive just as you can share any other drive and yea, then you could just transfer them over ethernet.

or hell if you have a flash drive just put the files on that.

4GB flash drives are like $15 these days. Just buy one at Staples/Walmart/Target/Best Buy/Office Max.

They're pretty much essential for owning a netbook.

Or just share the folder on a network and drag the files over. I assume you have a router or some type of home network set up. Just share a folder on the Netbook and highlight/drag the folders from the DVD drive folder to the netbook folder.

yeah i was originally thinking there was a NEED for it to be an image of the cd and not just a copy of the files

but, there isn't for just an itunes album backup

so yea, do what ^ said.
