Is it possible to make a tab called "Student Government," just like "Chit Chat" so all of us on here in SG can post..... and share ideas....

more importantly... all of the fellow students can see what is going on in SG.. how they can be involved.. and just know what is going on...

I know it may take some work, but it could do a lot of good.. just wondering.

At some point in the future there should a very purpose built message board on the SG website itself. By purpose built I mean designed with specific features to bring answers to questions on campus issues, to encourage posting by the full breadth of the serving officials, and to allow intergration with existing content.

Not at all. Student Government doesn't need a multi-purpose high volume forum (this site does that fine) so there is no way I could justify the expense of establishing a windows server and liscensing software.

you could just post to "Chit Chat" or "The Lounge" or "Soap Box" depending on what the SG idea was......

But, maybe tww could charge a "fee" for such a service.....

Its not for SG.. its for all of the students on here to know what the hell is going on.. and to give everyone involved with SG advice on what we can to help them.. this site is for NCSU students.. and I know the guys care about that (school tool)

okay.. I could post about 5 things on there every meeting.. and how would people give ideas? And those ideas cant be talked about by everyone else the only media is email.

I didnt think it would be a great task to set up anoter folder like "tech talk".. but I dont know the first thing about that..

I was just trying to help the students.. if nobody really cares, then.. I can try other ways.

the problem i see with this is that jake/joe are the moderators for all forums. making you a new forum for student government will give them another forum to monitor. given the trends of tww, ppl will see this new place and post all kinds of bullshit in there that you don't want. then you'll have to complain to jake/joe to do something, thus creating more work for them.

unless of course they can make you the moderator, in which case it would be a lot of work for you, or you could be accused of censorship, thus alienating SG from the student body.

why not just create your own message board on ncsu servers or other free boards around the internet and then link it off the SG website?

it's really not just as simple as creating a new area. then you have to patrol and enforce that area or it will go the way of the trash bin/chit chat.

i seriously doubt it would work like any of you guys want it to. it will probably be the least traveled forum on here. you will make announcments to students in there, but no one will read it because no one would ever go there. you would then proceed to post SG stuff in other forums. then i would have to move the threads from the lounge to the boring ole SG forum and you would start bitching at me about "no one ever reads the SG forum!

I don't think it would be a good idea. I think there are very few people who are really interested in SG stuff. most of the threads that relate to SG should fit into one of our other more traveled sections.

segregation of the SG is the whole damn problem with SG anyway. what usually happens is they finally get the students attention about something, then they fuck it all up by retreating to their own little world and bicker back and forth until everyone is so damn sick of the issue that it is finally just dropped.
