It went in my top-5 when I saw it at the Rialto 10 years ago (probably top-3 back then) and has stayed there ever since

Even after seeing it several times (and "getting" it), this analysis pointed out a couple of tidbits that I had missed. Good read.

I've always liked this film. But I'm usually a big fan of just about everything Christopher and Jonathan Nolan do.

Not a lot of people understand this movie. Lots of kids just want to say they like it because they didn't get it so it must be good.. like Donnie Darko.

I like how the two stories interweave at that one point in Memento and it goes from black and white to color

I actually haven't seen this.

And I wasn't really into Donnie Darko.

Then you have the other kids that want to pretend that they're special because they "got" the movie and all the "dumb people" didn't.

It's worth watching I guess, I think he made it as a student which is pretty impressive.

But it's not great.

The only plot hole I immediately see is that he couldn't possibly know that he has anterograde amnesia. If all he can remember is up to the moment when his wife was attacked and he was whacked in the skull, then he wouldn't be able to form a memory of being informed of his condition. Did he have a tatoo to remind him or something?

i thought of that too, and in that case a tattoo wouldnt help because he'd have to look at the tatoo every 15 minutes to know his condition
also he wouldnt have remembered the sammy jenkins story
but lets not focus on plot holes

^yeah, realistically every 5-15 minutes he should have started screaming about his wife and the burglars. i think the movie tries to imply that by seeing his "remember sammy jenkins" tattoo, that he can figure out that he has the same condition.... really he should have just tattoo'd on himself "you have anterograde amnesia" but that just isn't as fun.

^sorry i (forgot)

^^the other way they could've went with it, is that his memory problems could've developed more and more over time and his wife was the last clear thing he remember
also he said instinct allow people to learn even if they dont have memory
