I am taking PY 124 Astronomy, for a Free Elective this semster because I thoughit it was easy, but I do not think I will get a greater than a B or maybe B+ in it, I just took a test and it was hard, I think I got a 72. and a test is 20 % of the grade. I thought this class was easy A when I saw the reviews and its a 100 level class wtf?. I think he has been making the tests a lot more difficult over the years, so should I switch it to credit only so it won't damage my gpa? since it is an elective anyway and won't fulfill any requirements.the lowest grade I'm willing to show on my audit is a B+ i need to make a decision before March 8.

also which is better to take for a grade Bowling or Archery, basically which gives a better chance of getting an A in. I will need to take one of them for a grade becauise of the 12 hr S/U limit.

If you want to be certain of the grade you got on that test, he's already posted your score on webassign.

If you're struggling with astronomy, you may want to edit that goal of yours

the topics are easy to understand its a 25 question multiple choice test that's questions are not worded well. so if you miss 3 of them you already have a B, I prefer tests that have writing components, etc. not just multiple choice.

[Edited on February 11, 2010 at 5:14 PM. Reason : also it has answer choices like "a and b", which should not be in a 100 level course]

[Edited on February 11, 2010 at 5:17 PM. Reason : also i've taken 300s courses that are easier than this so why edit my goal]

I aced archery pretty easily, I think everyone did. I took all the undergrad astronomy courses NCSU offered. As for the astronomy course, now that you have a better feel for the format, maybe you'll be able to do better next time. That said, if you don't need a grade, then go credit only and let astronomy be what it is supposed be: fun.

yes I think that is what everyone in the class thought until they took the test because I KNOW it was way too hard for a 100's level course.

the thing is it is the same person that has taught the class for like 15 years so he is going to eventually make the questions harder each year because people will already have seen so many of the questions.

ok then I will take Archery as my graded PE then thank you for your suggestion

English 251
Political Science 308

I've taken all of those except food science. All were ridiculously easy. If you can't ace or at least get a solid B in all of them with only a 15 hour course load, you don't belong at this institution.

^I also did not take the lab, and from what I heard from friends who did, it had no effect on the class.

^Agreed.

And really? "A and B" are too hard for a 100 level class? What high school did you come from? God forbid you use that noggin in an institution of higher learning. You know, for critical thinking. Which is something you honestly should have learned in grade school. I really can't believe you haven't failed out. You don't know how to park downtown, you search around for the easiest classes IN ENGLISH, you don't know how to go talk to your advisor.
Seriously...

yeah i will get As or B+s in those classes except for PY 124 which I already switched to credit only since I am taking it for an elective anyway, i had a 4.0 gpa last semester and i took 16 hours, i have not gotten any grades lower than a B+ in my college career and it has been 3 semesters completed, I have only ever gotten 2 B+s, and if you didn't know none of the courses i am taking now are related to my major

yes A and B and all of or none of the above are all too hard for a 100 level class, like i said this guy has been teaching py 124 for like 15 years eventually he is going to make the tests harder and trickier, its not my fault i have to take the class now, i went to a Magnet gifted and talented high school and i took a bunch of APs, so why would i failed out? i have almost a 4.0 cumulative gpa-3.8 right now with 57 credit hours and last time i checked i am in the 90 percentile of students, i never said anything about not knowing to park in downtown, what i wanted to know was where the free parking spots were, and what is the problem with searching for easy classes in english, i mean its not my major or why would i want to take hard courses and why not take easy classes if I can raise my gpa higher, and i don't need to talk to my adviser i already sent them an email I just thought people here might know quicker

If it is Eglar, then you can't complain about A+B answers. Answer B is usually something like "Spock," "Han Solo," or "Lawyers are assholes."

yes the teacher is egler, half the time he says things unrelated to astronomy then makes the tests nothing like the sample tests, that why the avg for test 1 was 76 and this is a 100 level course.

Yeah! I remember how he used to do that. Sometimes I straight up laughed out loud during the tests.

And the stuff "unrelated" to the course was usually interesting as fuck. He talked about getting frostbitten at the magnetic north pole, naval history, and samurai swords. It wasn't a required physics class, but I took it just because I knew he was a bucket of knowledge.

i remember his practice tests being almost the exact same thing as the real tests just in different orders.

i got drunk and made out with his daughter on my birthday a couple years ago...i don't recommend that to anyone but i do recommend this class to everyone.

Egler is no longer teaching the course because of a family emergency and a new person called Brand Fortner is teaching it, he says he may be teaching the course for the rest of the semester and making the tests.

I was in the same boat, but I just dropped the class; it was a graduate level course that I was taking as an elective. Had to drop it because I got sick for two weeks and couldn't get to class.

I didn't drop the class but changed to credit only. The webassign is 15% of the grade and I know I will get a 100 on that. So if I get close to a 70 on all my tests I can still get a S. Right now I have a 75 but the next tests will get easier. I need to preserve my 3.83 gpa. I wouldn't have dropped because I need the credit for free electives.

I am sure I got at least a B on the test today so I will probably end up with Satisfactory. This test was a lot easier. About half of the test had questions that were the same as the one's on his sample test which he gave us the answers to before the class, unlike the first exam which was nothing like the sample test. I bet he saw the average grade on the first test then decided to make this one easier. Obviously he made the first one too hard for a 100 level course.

you're only allowed a certain number of credit only hours, you shouldn't have wasted them on a class this easy

Yeah its 12 hours of credit only max. However I won't need to change any more classes to credit only because they will all be easier than this one I am sure of it.
