Ok, so... I have Verizon and I've been up for a new phone for months; I'm using a wicked shitty ENV1 and I'm going to be getting a new phone soon. Right now, I'm really thinking Android (since Verizon has a ton of phones with the Android OS) and I'm not sure if I should just get the Motorola Droid or HTC Eris (I really like the Eris' size/quickness) or if I should wait for the HTC Nexus One (sold exclusively through Google) and the HTC Incredible to be released. If any of you have the Droid/Eris or any other new smartphones for Verizon, suggestions would be sick.

...I'm entirely aware of that thread, however I'm asking for suggestions, not a shit ton of spam. Thanks.

this doesn't need its own thread. this doesn't hardly even justify a post. if you want a phone now, buy a droid... if you want to wait for the nexus one, wait.

My bad, I didn't italicize it. I've been looking at:

http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/Verizon-carrier-c_17_3.html

...and I'm really only impressed with the HTC Incredible & Nexus One, just because of they both have Android 2.1 & a Snapdragon processor. The Nexus One does have 512 mb ram though...

After your contract expires, you should just be able to continue month-to-month if necessary, I would think.

The iPhone might have been a great suggestion if it fit any of the things he were interested in.

should be the same price as you'll just continue paying what you're paying now but won't be under contract.

Oh, sooo true. The title of the thread is "Android Phone Suggestions" for a reason, after all. I think I'll just wait it out for the Nexus One, but hopefully it will be released before I go to Europe, because I want to get a prepaid sim card, so I can use my phone while overseas.

Might have a problem there. There haven't been any mention of any Android world phones in the near future and the current Verizon droids don't take sim cards.

CDMA does not work overseas. You need to be on ATT and have a gsm phone with the right bands.

I'm 99.9% sure that all Android phones for Verizon (upcoming and the two current) have sim cards. There's always that .01% chance though... or at least that's what the Verizon guy said.

It has an SD card but no sim card. Only phones that have a sim card on verizon are the world phones (BB storms, world edition, tp2, etc) for overseas use or unlocked on at&t or tmobile. None of the other verizon phones have a sim card period. You can't believe 90% of what the reps say.

HAHAHAHAHAHA...while i wouldn't trust a salesman to tell me the truth, it is more likely that YOU confused SIM for microSD

I stand corrected with the Eris & Droid, but as for the Nexus One...

http://www.google.com/phone/static/en_US-nexusone_tech_specs.html

...look at the "Additional Features" section about 2/3 down the page. HAHAHAHAH... YOU just made yourself look like a retard. If you've ever read up on the Nexus One (doubtful), you'd know that it is sold exclusively through Google and even when bought with a carrier, can be (legally) unlocked at any time. With that being said, it is one of the few Verizon phones with a sim card.

of course you stand corrected, you dumb fuck...especially since i didn't say a thing about the nexus one

^^^ read comprehension, chief...i'm mocking the fact that you think ALL verizon droid phones can be used overseas...i never once said the nexus one doesn't have a SIM slot

Posting the current N1 specs is pointless. Those specs are for a GSM phone that doesn't even have verizon's cdma bands in it. There's a chance that Google could release a quad-band phone that would work on the verizon cdma network and have a sim card slot for gsm use but nothing points to that at this time. If you want a GSM phone, you'll need to get the N1 and use it on tmobile or at&t here in the US or get one of the droids coming to AT&T. FACT

Weird... the next two networks the Nexus One is coming out for are Verizon and Vodafone. Where's Vodafone from? (Europe...) If I
Quote :
"...confused SIM for microSD,"
then wouldn't that imply that the Nexus One, the phone that I am saying has a sim card slot does not in fact have a sim card slot (however... it does)?

Also... unless you manage to edit my post, I don't believe I ever made a comment about all Android phones being used in Europe. So please continue to put words (more like generalizations) in my mouth.

They'll have to modify the cellular radios to get it to work on verizon. Point is that no android phone currently (droid/eris) or near future (devour) on verizon have sim cards so they can't be used on GSM carriers in the US or in Europe.

Vodafone is GSM, Verizon is CDMA. Vodafone will obviously be getting a GSM phone while Verizon will be getting a CDMA phone...

my understanding is that NexusOne is quad-band, so it can do both CDMA & GSM so it would have a sim slot, albeit empty if your contract is with Verizon. if you travel to Europe you get a Vodafone (Europe company) SIM card that is distributed through Verizon so you can use your NexusOne overseas.

The tmobile N1 only has the GSM radio in it. That's why you can't bring it to verizon right now. It has the quadband GSM radio but nothing for CDMA. It's possible that the Verizon release could be a GSM/CDMA hybrid world phone but no one has confirmed or denied it.
