Too much size and pressing for us to be effective. The only way I see us winning is by hitting about 9-10 threes and keeping their guards from pentrating.

This will be my first ACC Tourney, anyone have any tips about parking, the coliseum, or places to go out and eat/drink in Greensboro?

high point road is pretty ghetto now, so i wouldn't spend a whole lot of time there. there's an olive garden and carraba's, but they're likely to be slammed (especially OG). as far as just going out and drinking, downtown is definitely your best bet

Stamey's BBQ across the street from the coliseum on High Point Rd. parking is $10 there, not sure how much it will be in the coliseum lot itself...

if you are staying for the whole tournament and are looking to go out at night, downtown Greensboro is pretty fun and you can stay in one area and hop between a few different bars on Elm Street...

-Greys Tavern
-Natty Greene's Brew Pub
-McCouls Irish Pub
-The Green Burro Bar
-Longshanks Pool Hall

Greys is pretty much my spot, and for people my age (21-25).

other bars downtown that are not in the immediate square as those above are:

-Stumble Stilskins (bar & food, nice flatscreen tv's...a Boston bar...bruins/pats/celtics...could be location for BC fans, not sure)
-Fishers Bar & Grille- cheap $5 food that is really good and cheap beer

If you are staying out a bit and want to venture to other places, you can go up Battleground Rd to:

Underground (dueling Piano bar...i hate it)
Speakeasy Tavern (good place)

As far as lunch goes for tournament days, I recommend the following places that are convenient to the Coliseum:

Smokey Bones (on High Point Road)
Lindley Park Filling Station (corner of Walker Ave. and Elam)
JP Looneys (not a big fan, but a sports bar on the corner of Holden & Spring Garden)

I think Green Burro closed. Stumble Stiltskins near the corner of Market and Green is my spot when I'm in Greensboro. McCoul's is a cool spot too, especially considering it's so close to St. Patty's Day.

If you want to venture out a little, go to Yum Yum's on the UNCG campus. Cool old place with awesome hot dogs and ice cream. Plus you can hit on all the weird-but-hot UNCG chicks.

Burro re-opened.

I go to stumbles, but its kinda strange now. They expanded and took over the next door Coffee House, but no one really goes in that part of the bar. Could be different this week with the ACC tournament I'm sure.

Ahh ... didn't know the Burro is back. That's what happens when a guy from Winston tries to recommend Greensboro spots.

I agree that Stumbles is awkward now with the expansion. I wish they would've just put some foosball tables over there instead of all those un-used tables.

I noticed you left Greene Street off the list. Does that place suck now?

i wouldn't recommend Greene Street to anyone unless you fit in one of the following categories:

1) You really want to spend your Thursday night with 18 year olds (college night)
2) You're a guido and want to show off your Affliction shirt
3) You like Robert Earl Keen and want to spend $25 on Friday night to listen to country music
4) You want to cap off semi-final Saturday with a Journey cover band...


for some people, "clubs" are their thing...so if it is, go for it. its just one place that will be far different than any others in terms of just hanging out and drinking, enjoying ACC bball, etc. wont happen there.
