The spinoff could be him on Alcatraz going insane from syphilis. Maybe even a sitcom.

No clue where this season is supposed to be going but the slow burn is starting to really settle in. Enjoying this season...kinda feels like a storm brewing but no idea what that'll be.

Also love it whenever AR is on screen.

And another for Frank Capone. I was really warming to his character.

i was legitimately sad to see Eddie fall so hard (no pun intended) mentally and emotionally that he resorted to suicide. just the way it was being set up with the music and him writing a letter in his native tongue was enough for me to know what was coming. then him fixing himself in the mirror all dressed nicely and i knew for sure. it still didn't make it any more easy to accept.

and yeah Frank Capone was awesome i thought. i really liked the actor and the character, itself.

To keep its course somewhat close to history, it had to be done. What's funny is that Frank was actually the crazy madman in real life and Al was the cerebral guy

I figured as much, but could someone explain to me WTF happened in the episode. Last time I checked an entire police squad doesn't show up at a crowd rioting and decides that every man on the force should unload on one person with 100+ rounds of ammunition.

I feel he is loosely based on Marcus Garvey (even though garvey is mentioned by J Edgar Hoover)

Even though arquette is the worst looking of Nucky's hookups, she is also kinda the least realistic. Nucky's ladies usually want something out of the relationship whether it be protection, a daddy figure, or just to be around/benefit from the money and power. Arquette seemed to just be drawn to his raw sexual energy, which is a bit much for Buscemi to pull off.....

Chalky seemed to me like the last person to cheat on his wife. He seems too angry at the world to cheat.

So I'm a little confused -- did Nucky's information broker guy know more about Knox than he was telling Nucky or did Knox decide to turn to the dark side and spill the beans to the info broker after J. Edgar sold him out?

I think he's cooperating as a witness to the government so he doesn't go to jail. He didn't really tell Nucky anything on the guy.

^Yeah he didn't tell Nucky anything but that was before the scene where it showed him meeting with Knox. The only thing that really confuses me though is why does Knox even need that guy as an informant? He's already "in" posing as an undercover corrupt agent and obviously Eli/Doyle/Nucky trust him.

Was the guy that Nucky tried to get ahold of (Eddie's replacement called him and said he doesn't work there anymore) the same guy that was shot at the beginning of the season by that shotgun trap?

Gaston Means (Milton from office space) ran the background search on Agent Knox (FBI guy) and Nucky had him double check after the guy disappeared. Nucky has a feeling that it is somehow connected with the suicide and the hankerchief (it is, the hankerchief and suicide were caused by Knox's questioning of Kessler). Gaston Means is cooperating and lying to Nucky to avoid prison.

^exactly. Means is playing both sides, but we don't really know how much Means has given Knox on Nucky (if anything).

No. That was the former Prohibition Agent, set up by Knox, and he died on scene.

^That was a really well done fight scene with him and Chalky. I wonder how long Dr. Narcisse is gonna make it now that Chalky is out for his blood.

Surprised at how jealous Nucky got. I can't even remember him resorting to violence himself aside from shooting Jimmy and that fist fight he had with Eli in Season 2. Both cases didn't seem nearly as brutal as him smacking Doyle with that cane. I guess he really likes Sally.

Van Mueller is freaking boss; he was all "who's your daddy now, wife". freakin awesome lol.

i wasn't a big fan of his in the earlier seasons but this season i've really come to like him. much like Richard's scenes, i look forward to any with him now.

Yeah, him and Richard definitely steal the show. I'm glad to see good old Richard settle down with a wife now. And pumped to see him working for Nucky.

Awesome seeing Van Alden break out of his introverted shell and release his fury. Talking back to Capone and threatening his brother and shit really shows how much his character is changing. I feel like what's her face (the mother of his first born) will show up again in the near future to throw a wrench into things.

This season is all about 3 badasses:
- Van Alden
- Chalky
- Richard

The Richard scene in the courthouse was a bit corny, but I'm sure he'll return to badass ways soon.

Perhaps Dr. Narcisse will piss off Nucky and he'll send Richard after him? Although I feel like Chalky is more the type to take matters into his own hands with something like that.

so does anyone else think Torrio set up the hit on Capone and gang? he conveniently leaves the area just before it happens. not to mention, he was really not happy with Al's "ambition" of how to run the operation.

^no. based on history.

great episode. starting to tie everything together. I feel like Chalky is going to think Nucky sold him out, hopefully they can square that away quickly next week.

Also, i was expecting Narcisse to stick Maybelle with a heroin needle, but that would have been too similar to Gillian and Gyp last season. I still expect him to take her hostage in the next two hours. But it's time for Narcisse to go (as much as I like Jeffrey Wright).

i'm intrigued to see what Nucky does with his new partners Narcisse and Masseria. cause if he really wants his cut and to be involved with them, i don't see how he cant turn Chalky over. but at the same time, Chalky has proven to be an asset for Nucky so is he really willing to give that up? i'm torn on that.

i really though Narcisse was going to stab or shoot Maybelle when she got up to leave the Onyx Club suite. i was very tense during that whole scene with the 2 of them.

Knox is really pissing me off and he needs to go. i'm hoping Eli deals with him but i can see Will dealing with him to prove to Pops and Uncle Nucky that he really wants to be in the "family business".

A few things...

1) Why is Eli even putting up with Knox/telling him all this? I figured Eli would initially tell Knox he's playing along and then just go straight to Nucky and tell him about everything. Nucky could have Knox taken out easily. I can see Will taking some initiative with the mayor or Knox though to earn some respect from Eli.

2) Although I do really like Jeffrey Wright as an actor, the character of Dr. Narcisse is annoying me and I wanna see Chalky beat him to a pulp. I guess that means that Jeffrey Wright is doing a great job as an actor.

3) I don't think Nucky is really planning on having a partnership with Dr. Narcisse and Masseria. Nucky is smart enough to realize that some things are more important than money -- Chalky was there for him when he needed him and even though the debt was "repaid" with the Onyx Club he still sees Chalky as a friend. On top of that Nucky already showed that he doesn't want heroine being pushed in his town. I think he'll use this as a cover to lure Narcisse wherever he needs him and let Chalky have him. I doubt Masseria will care if Nucky kills Narcisse then bows out of the deal as it will give Masseria 100% of the heroine money (provided he stops piggybacking on Nucky's rum shipments from Florida).

4) I didn't expect Narcisse to do anything to Chalky's daughter. He has come across as a lot more civilized than that. He did beat up what's her face but she directly went against him and he felt betrayed. Chalky's family is obviously innocent in all this. That's not to say he won't use her as a hostage in the future but for now I think he's happy since he thinks Nucky is on his side.

5) Another great episode by the way. I gotta say that every episode this season has been superb -- normally after four seasons TV shows kind of get a little stale but Boardwalk Empire continues to deliver.

Yes. We know this for a fact, no speculation is needed.

Remember how Nucky panicked when he learned that Narcisse and Bader had met? He was panicking because he realized that he'd basically just exposed Chalky. (it was Bader who ordered the police to pick Chalky up)

Pinkertons were formed by the US Government, but were a private agency as you said.

I knew the scene in the parking garage was a con, but i was expecting Roy to con Gillian out of her house and property. So the confession and arrest surprised me a little. But looking back, i think ncsuapex is right. Leander knew she was hiding something and wanted to get her out of the house.

As for Roy's plan, I don't think there was a backup. She basically overcame her addiction, finally spoke of her sexual abuse and troubled childhood, and the loss of Jimmy. After giving up Tommy the only thing left on her conscience was Roger. So it was only a matter of time, especially after he "proposes" before she confessed to him about that.

My guess for the finale is that nucky has knox killed and sets up Eli by having him waiting at the meeting with lucchiano etc. the feds bust in and since knox was working mostly solo they pin it on Eli and nucky turns his back on him.

Eli's son becomes the new jimmy

Richard is the one that kills knox

Not sure whats gonna happen btw chalky and dr narcisse

The gilllian storyline will mercifully end

god i hope we're done with gillian. two seasons in a row i think she's finally gone. last year i thought the heroin rosetti injected her with was poison. this year it looks like she's going to jail or the looney bin where we can just assume she rots forever. please let it be so.
