the only thing i would really worry about missing out on would be speaking and listening exercises


i would ask the professor listed for it what kind of s&l exercises are on the courseware s/he intends to use...still, it's going to be a lot easier to add listening exercises to something like webassign, but a bit more difficult to incorporate speaking exercises since you can't get an objective idea of how you're doing on speaking without someone listening to you

if it was an upper level spanish and you already have a fairly solid foundation on speaking or if the course is mostly grammatical, it's probably not much of a concern, but if the class is fls 101/102/201/202, i'd probably think twice about taking it online unless i had reasonable access to the instructor or someone else who speaks spanish well and can work on speaking with me

I learn the most in foreign language by talking to classmates and friends. My thinking is that if you're only aiming to fulfill a requirement it is probably doable online, but if you want to learn a language then speaking with people who are at your same level in the language is very helpful.

*I have never done a Spanish class online, but I have had many Spanish classes and several online classes in other subjects tho
