I'm a fan. Not usually into the procedural crime dramas, but I give everything a cast member of Firely does a shot (this includes Chuck, thanks to Adam Baldwin).

Quality show, good for a few laughs

I've got the entire second half of season two on my DVR ready to go but I just haven't gotten around to watching it. I <3'd the first season though. Also, I'm glad they had an obscure reference to Firefly on the Halloween episode. If you didn't see it, the opening sequence had Castle dressing up as Mal Reynolds in the exact costume he wore for Firefly. When his daughter asked him what the costume was, he was like "SPACE COWBOY!" to which she replied "That's so 6 years ago..."

Mondays episode had another epic firefly reference.

Minus the firefly ties - show is solid because it doesn't overuse the whole CSI "science". Cast is interesting, the stories are realistic (for the most part). Shocked this pulled in almost 15 million viewers - seems no one watches / talks about it.

^What was the reference to Firefly this week? I think I totally missed it, as we watched it last night.

I will say that I have gotten totally bored with the whole crime drama genre in the last couple years. It is overdone and I have tuned out from all those shows. I was NOT interested in this at all, but as Exiled said above, I like to give any show the Firefly cast is in a chance. We watched sporadically the first season (too late for us usually) but this season we have fallen in love with it. It is quickly becoming one of our favorite shows on the DVR. I thought the Halloween Firefly reference was one of the coolest things that they could have done. But more importantly, I love the irreverence of Rick, who keeps the show from being too serious. With every other crime drama male lead being so serious, Castle's role, and the chemistry between he and Beckett is great.

i just recently discovered this show. I caught the episode a couple weeks ago (2 weeks maybe?) where a girl is found stuffed in a dryer.


I have started DVR'ing the episodes. Will have to watch the first season.

Anybody watch the Indiana Jones-esque episode this week? Finally caught it on the DVR. Numbers were a little lower for viewing, but I bet the DVR bump from this week will be nice, since it was competing with a slightly exciting basketball game!

^Yea no shit. After Firefly and Dr. Horrible, I really enjoy his acting. Castle is a cop drama, which I usually don't like, but his character makes it light and fun and brings a different spin to the formula.

It got the early pickup for a new season. I am about 6 episodes back on the DVR. Oh well, I know it will be great when I finally get around to watching it.

Not that I don't love Castle, but doesn't this quote describe like 90% of the shows on TV today? All the CSIs, NCISs, L&Os, Criminal Minds, etc? And those are just the franchise shows. You've also got one-offs like Bones, The Closer, Lie to me, Psych, The Mentalist, etc. I could probably list at least 50 shows that don't require you to follow it week to week and would struggle to name 10 that do. Like I said, I do like Castle, but I think I enjoy it in spite of it being a procedural show, and certainly not because of it.

^Yea kinda agree. There are few shows now that you have to watch from start to finish like Lost. Far more follow the single episode casual watching format. And I totally agree, I am completely burned out on the procedural crime drama shows, but I still like Castle in spite of that. This is the only cop show I will still tolerate.

Nathan Fillion definitely makes this show...plus it feels like its not afraid to make fun of itself/the genre, which I can get behind.

Plus the multiple Firefly/Serenity nods are fun to watch out for.

She might have even been expecting to be shot at so went prepared...that seems more like something she'd do.
