Ken seems like a really nice guy, but in all the polling I've seen seems to suggest that its going to come down to Elaine or Cal, and that Ken, Marcus, Susan, and Ann aren't going to make it past round 1. As far as polling against Burr, Elaine is the only one I've seen make it with in 5%.

Elaine and Cal have both served as NC Senators, and Elaine is currently Secretary of State. In the most recent election Elaine got the second highest vote total of any statewide candidate so she has some starting name recognition. Ken has worked as a lawyer and a political fundraiser, but I believe this is his first attempt at running for office.
There are basically two ways of tracking viability. Polls, which puts Elaine first and Cal second, and money which puts Cal first and Elaine second. There have been some suggestions that the DSCC gave the Cunningham campaign an e-mail contact fundraising list. So if that is his main money maker I think Elaine, Cal, Ken, or Marcus would all get access to that list as the winner of the primary.
Cal also has a bit of a military background, which hopefully is enough to get NCSUers to forgive him for being a past UNC Student Body President (although Ken lives in Chapel Hill so I'm not sure Chapel Hill affiliation will be anything anyone takes seriously at all). Cal did recently pick up the Gen Wesley Clark endorsement, and Cal would be able to hammer Burr joining on the recent Committee Cancellation tactic where Burr canceled a meeting of the Senate Armed Services Committee for which generals had traveled from Korea and Hawaii to Washington DC to attend, as a part of the broader GOP committee cancellation punishment/obstruction policy. Whereas Elaine could hammer him more on his vote against the anti-rape amendment & on Burr's vote in favor of keeping domestic violence against women as a pre-existing condition. And of course either one of them will hammer him on publicly admitting to telling his wife to do a bank run when the recession started.
I'm pretty torn right now myself, I was more in the Cal camp to start with, but he needs to pull up his numbers against Burr. Because in the end of the day I want Burr gone more than I care about the differences in stances between Ken, Cal, and Elaine. And the only real difference I've noticed between the main two is that Elaine wants us out of Afghanistan now and Cal supports the surge. But on domestic issues they are pretty similar.
