http://www.technicianonline.com/news/ncsu-cheer-and-dance-to-hold-open-rehearsal-1.2206607

There is an open rehearsal at Reynolds on Sunday April 4th. Hopefully we reclaim our mascot national title for the 3rd time in 4 years.

^Nothing is wrong with me. It will just be nice to wake up next week and see NC State finished in the top 10 in the nation in something. Now if only our football and basketball team could do that.

^I'm not stalking anyone. I only heard about this when someone else posted it on packpride. The last time I probably came in contact with someone from the dance team would have been at my 5 year class reunion, 6 years ago.

^^^I would take that too.

I missed the reunion as well. I'll catch my 10 year in 2012, assuming the world hasn't ended. Were gonna go to an O'Charley's.

On the real, though, it's cool to support all of our teams. I was always proud whenever I heard our Cheerleading team had performed well at Nationals. Anything State does well I support.

^Exactly! You can't hate on any State team that is good at what they do because we don't have too many good teams.

So did anyone go today? How did the cheerleaders and mascot do? I saw the dance team perform their nationals routine at the BC game and they looked ok. I doubt we win a title in anything.

No. It used to be that the front 10 or so rows of the dance team baseline were the last student seats to fill up for some reason. Lots of people used to go sit there on low crowd nights. My foam finger made me stick out in the crowd and the guard enjoyed kicking people out who didn't have tickets for that section.

They did well! Looks like they'll be top 5.... no jinx or anything. Cheerleading hasn't finished out of the top 5 since 2003 or 2004.

don't know how Dance team did today.

^No, I just have a good memory when it comes to Wolfpack sports and have always paid attention to how well the football team and the dance team do since my high school class was a part of those teams (they aren't anymore).

The above link is the performance order. This year I don't see us listed under All Girl 1, just All Girl 1 Indermediate. Also, we finished 5th out of 5 mascots last year after taking 2 mascot titles in a row. This year there are 15 mascots. Mr. Wuf and Ms. Wuf better be ready! They have 13 other mascots to beat.

We sent 3 cheerleading squads and someone on packpride said we were tied with Texas Tech for 2nd place at one point. I think they were talking about our Division IA coed team. Anyone hear who won the national title s and where we finished?

Large Coed was 2nd after the first day, but finished up in 4th place after finals. Oklahoma State won, Louisville (had won 8 straight previous years) finished 2nd, Texas Tech (was first after day 1) finished 3rd.

Small Co-ed didn't make it to finals in the small co-ed division. Louisville won, Oklahoma State in 2nd

Dance Team finished 9th. BYU won, Louisville in 2nd, Penn State 3rd, USC in 4th GO COCKS!!

All Girl finished 4th, Maryland won, Louisville 2nd.

All Girl Intermediate finished 6th

Large Coed means that the team is broken down Males and females. At NCA you are allowed 20 people competing, and you can have 50% +1 Males, so if you compete with 20 on the floor, you are allowed a maximum of 11 guys and 9 girls. Some teams do choose to compete with less, so a team using 18 would have 10 males maximum

Small Coed means that you are allowed a maximum of 20 on the floor, but can only have a maximum of 4 guys on the floor.

Do I need to explain what the term All-Girl means?

Then the division is your schools division, so you are competing against similar schools, NC State being Division 1A (Bowl sub-division, blah blah blah) competes against similar schools, Louisville, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, USC GO COCKS!, Virginia Tech, etc

Intermediate divisions mean they are skill limited. There is a maximum cap for skills that are allowed. (you can spin once, not twice, etc)

Video is available, just enter the team name into the search box. Prelims is Day 1 (Thursday) and Finals was Day 2 (Friday)

^I don't even know if they compete at the NCA Nationals. Some schools compete in another association, or don't compete at all. There are 2 different associations. I forget what the other one is called, but all of our spirit groups compete in the NCA/NDA and go to nationals in Daytona in April every year. NC State has won national titles in cheerleading in both associations. Some male cheerleader who used to post on packpride said that the NC State switch occurred because of something that happened with the University of Kentucky and judging. I forget the details though. The NCA seems to be no better. Louisville wins just about every title almost every year. We did win the NCA Division IA cheerleading national championship in 2001 which was the same year the dance team had their highest finish ever at 2nd behind BYU in Division IA Dance.

The switch from UCA to NCA was in 2001. Kentucky had won a bunch of the previous years and everyone was getting upset, so a bunch of teams started switching over to NCA. That year, NC State sent white team (the team that cheers at women's basketball) to compete at UCA (in Orlando in January) and Red team (Men's basketball) to NCA (Daytona in April). Both companies got upset and made them choose. You can no longer compete at both even if you wanted to. That year NC State won NCA, so they stayed with NCA.

Mr Wuf was 3rd in the Mascot competition
Mrs Wuf was 8th.
