So why should we care about this season? Can Kevin Millwood teach a bunch of young pitchers? Do Tejada and Roberts matter?

I live in the backwoods of O's country. Maybe I can see the Bluefield O's win a game this year.

I blame my allegiance on HTS (More Sports, Your Sports, HTS!)

this x 1,000,000. i don't care how many games they lose. i want to be able to at least have the option of watching them do it without subscribing to mlbtv and going through a proxy in st. louis.

We get O's TV (games carried on network TV produced by MASN) in SW Virginia, but it's only 65 games. Well, we get MASN too, but I don't have cable.

I have the same issue with the Bobcats. Charter won't show their games b/c of some contractual issue, so no game for me (about 25 miles from Charlotte).

The O's are pretty much the only team I ever watch in person, and have a bunch of O's fan friends, so I pull for them.

It would be funny as hell if Billy and Cal did it to piss off Cal Sr.

(i think he was the manager that year)

I remember being 13 or so and seeing that kid in New York snatch that Jeter home run ball off the wall in the 1996(?) ALCS. I've never wanted to punch someone in the face so hard in my life.

As for the "Fuck Face" story: The story was that Billy had multiple bats that were slightly different, so be put creative labels on them to tell them apart. One of the bats was named "Fuck Face." Fleer came to take card pictures, he grabbed a bat really quickly not realizing which one he grabbed, thus the infamous error card was born.

Unfortunately, I only have the edited version.

^a majority of SI writers (7 of 13) voted Matusz as their preseason AL ROY

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/baseball/mlb/03/29/expert.picks/index.html

Let's hope he's more like Mussina and less like Ben McDonald. also, let's get these bats moving, I think they've lost 4 or 5 games by one run or so in the 9th inning..

Adam Jones was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle...with a 1-9 start, that's a win in my book.

I was 11. The douchebag in question is Jeffrey Maier. While you can't blame one incident on the meltdown of an entire team (Steve Bartman), the incident still ruffles Orioles fans by even merely uttering "spectator interference">

Sent Brad Bergesen down to AAA Norfolk, to be replaced on roster by Alberto Castillo.

http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/orioles/bs-sp-orioles-mariners-0419,0,2989706.story

Chris Tillman isn't ready to be a full-time pitcher yet, he's struggling at Norfolk right now ...0-3 I believe with a fairly high ERA

it kills me to see the orioles suck so bad. ESPN says Trembley is safe because he and the young players all came up together (he was a minor league manager). I don't really trust any opinion that comes from ESPN, only fact. They speculate on too much shit for me to keep track of.

how much longer til Angelos' ego breaks out of its shell and cans Trembley? sweet christ the offense is fucking horrible! Wieters is the best hitter right now, and he's just a shade over .300. They average about 3 runs per game, and as a team are hitting .223. When they do hit, they leave everyone on base unless they hit a home run. WWHHHYYYY

Cal Jr offers to help with the team, and Angelos tells him to fuck off. nice.

2 game win streak! last two wins vs. Red Sox and Yankees

Rhyne Hughes has replaced Garrett Atkins at 1B and is hitting well and driving in runs, which has been lacking

seems like the bats have come alive over the past 4 games or so

it most certainly will not

over the past decade the O's have started strong and bombed after the first few months

maybe this time they start slow and finish strong, but i only see that happening if the young guys come up mid-season and tear it up

i'm not holding out hope for that

while the O's are busy losing, here's some good news on Chris Tillman in Norfolk (AAA)

Quote :
"Orioles top minor league pitching prospect Chris Tillman pitched Norfolk's first nine-inning no-hitter in nearly 18 years Wednesday as part of the Tides' 6-0 win at Gwinnett, the Atlanta Braves' Triple-A affiliate. "

O's sweep series with Red Sox with a 3-2 win off Ty-Wigginton's RBI double in bottom of the 10th

3 wins in a row and suddenly the O's don't look like the worst team in baseball

the Pirates are the worst team. the O's just haven't hit well until recently and have had a brutal schedule...Red Sox, Yankees, and Rays two series with each

inuries, trying to find a good lineup, etc.

the list can go on and on, but they'll be respectable this season as their younger players figure it out

at least the o's have done well for the past couple days, and the pirates have been adequate except against the brewers . . . very inadequate against the brewers
