I can download it and install it, but it won't run on my work laptop. I thought this was a fluke, but it just happened to a coworker, too.
How are they doing this? Is there a way around using IE6? 4/22/2010 10:33:17 AM |

If they're using Active Directory restrictions, you might be able to use the portable version, but you may have to rename the exe file. 4/22/2010 10:54:10 AM |

^We have a fuckload of PCs that run it due to stupid fucking NCWise restrictions.
Hell I got a work order just a little while ago that somebody needs some computers in a lab downgraded from IE8 to IE6 so they can use NCWise for the day. They apparently can't use their own computers which are in their offices and have IE6. That would be too easy. No we have to go out and unfreeze 4 computers out of 12 rollback IE8 to IE6 and shut down the library tomorrow so they can sit in there and work on them (ostensibly so they can be together, but the computers can't be right next to each other as they need their privacy too!) 4/22/2010 2:12:08 PM |

Nighthawk, I'm fascinated by NCWise. Who thought it would be a good program? Who thought that it might not necessarily be the worst program ever made? Every time I think about it, I have to stop, in fear of my brain exploding.
Whenever you hear stories regarding the rationale behind this program, please pass it on to me. 4/22/2010 9:35:49 PM |

I've heard that it was very wise of NC to create NCWise.
This is corroborated by its name. 4/22/2010 9:52:45 PM |

^Indeed.
And while I think NCWise is well intended, they need to make the bitch compatible with more than only the most antiquated browsers available. I have student web-based programs that do not support or run in IE6, so I have to have IE7 or 8 on those computers. However NCWise doesn't support these, so the teacher computers have to use the oldest browser known to man, and BTW, if the teacher computer has a problem the student computers will not let the teacher get on NCWise. Oh no! And lest we not forget that there is no such thing as support for Vista or Win 7, unless you are lucky enough to get Opera to run it. And if you have a Mac, you have absolutely no support for it at all. Eat shit and die. 4/22/2010 10:34:38 PM |

Is there really no one that has the power to say this is stupid, or is every single government employee just running out the clock? 4/23/2010 1:20:22 AM |
