So I have a 200W Kenwood Excelon Head Unit, all Infinity Speakers, a 200W Bazooka 10" for audio

Plus a TomTom GPS and a Cobra Radar dectector

do you think it's worth upgrading to increase storage? Or should I put one on my 1990 Formula Firebird

http://www.optimabatteries.com/home.php'

http://www.optimabatteries.com/domestic_performance/find_your_optima

My correct unti is the Red Top: 75/25 (8022-091) ($200)

or

The Yellow Top "Deep Cycle:: D75/25 (8042-218) (right under $200)

Any opinions?

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do here....thats not really a huge amount of electronics. Are you planning to be running your stereo a lot with the engine turned off? If you're worried about running out of juice while you're riding down the road then you need to invest in a better alternator. If your headlights are keeping time to the music then a higher end battery could help, but I'd just get a capacitor personally.

of course I'm talking about long term usage with no alternator...dur

that is a decent amount of audio equipment to push on the battery, or course it's not the greatest; but pretty decent.

deep cycle batteries are made to be run down and recharged with a battery charger. they aren't really meant for starting engines.

thank you for helping out in this thread

back on topic do anyone know if these perform well at the above said conditions; parked and playing music. Do they last longer than your avg battery and hold cranking power?

yea sorry I don't want to run a separate audio battery. This is a thread about Optima batteries and you haven't commented at all/any on them.

it's not gonna be noticeably better than any other quality battery

they don't have some kind of super special technology that other brands don't

They're a big pain in the ass. I've had plenty of trouble with them and so have many of my friends. The only reason I use them is because they are dry cell and can be located inside the vehicle without spilling acid. If you drain them they will go bad and you will need a new one--which isn't too bad if the warranty is still valid. The deep cycle is tough, but it's not invincible and you can definitely kill it. All the Optimas are also really expensive.

It's just not worth the money unless you are doing a secondary battery or relocated battery. Get a Duralast gold or some other equivalent battery with a 3 year warranty.

optima does make a great battery i've have the same red top for goin on 5 yrs now and it runs like a champ. based on what you want to do you probably want to run multiple batteries to decrease your chances of being stranded.

You are looking for a battery that you can run totally out of juice and then start your car?

Not sure what universe you will find that in. Try mounting a deep cycle battery and some kind of switch between the two for when you are parked, then recharge the deep cycle with a charger when you get home.

I have used a 25$ 275cca lawn and garden battery for 3 days now. Over 10+ starts (I still try to park on hills, hahahaah). It's exciting to know you might be stranded. I'm sure I'll be fine until the cooler days in fall. Probably weighs 5-10lbs less.

I'll try to remember to post here when it fails.

Sounds like you need an automatic battery disconnect switch to keep you from killing batteries.
