Quote :
"RALEIGH -- N.C. State and the NBA will have to wait a little longer for a decision from C.J. Leslie.

The Wolfpack's star forward said Monday he hasn't made up his mind about where he will play basketball next season — in the ACC or the NBA.

Leslie, who led N.C. State in scoring as a sophomore, said he's leaning "one way" but he's not ready to make a decision.

"I'm not stressing about it, whatever I decide to do is going to be whatever I decide to do," Leslie said.

The NCAA deadline for underclassmen is midnight on Tuesday, but Leslie said his decision would come in the next "week or so" but added he would observe the NBA deadline, which is April 29.

Behind a late-season surge, led by the improved play of Leslie, the Wolfpack won 24 games in coach Mark Gottfried's first season, a first since 1988, and reached the Sweet 16 for only the second time since '89.

Leslie led the Wolfpack in scoring (14.7 points per game) and blocks (1.6 per game) and ranked second in rebounding (7.3 per game).

Even without Leslie, N.C. State returns three starters and adds McDonald's All-Americans, which puts the Wolfpack in position to contend for its first ACC title since 1987.

Gottfried, who said he talked with between 15 and 20 NBA teams, said if Leslie returns, "I think it turns into something great."

Both North Carolina (forward Harrison Barnes) and Duke (guard Austin Rivers) have already lost their leading scorers — and both underclassmen — early to the draft. Guard Kendall Marshall and forward John Henson joined Barnes in the draft. Duke forward Mason Plumlee has put his name in but has not hired an agent.

There has been glut a players at Leslie's position already declared for the NBA draft, with Kentucky's Anthony Davis and Connecticut's Andre Drummond expected to follow suit. Henson, Thomas Robinson of Kansas, Jared Sullinger of Ohio State and Perry Jones III of Baylor have already entered the draft and are considered lottery picks.

Leslie said what other underclassmen do will not affect his decision.

"I'm worried about just me right now," Leslie said. "I'm not worried about anyone else. They can't help me in any way."

on robinson...i think this directly applies cjL

Quote :
"He had thoughts about leaving after his sophomore season, which would have been a mistake.
"I wouldn't have been ready at all, I would have been eaten alive," Robinson said. "Coming back, this might have been one of my toughest years mentally and physically - I was playing a lot more this year, there was a lot more going on - that transformation helped me mature.""

Why? He's saying that in response to a question about how other people's decisions (Henson, Robinson, etc) will affect his decision making process.

If he doesn't care that his position is inundated in the draft, as that quote indicates, it shows he might not be rational about his expectations.

^^We're State fans, we worry. THIS IS WHAT WE DO. And it's the offseason, so we don't have much to worry about.

I know this doesn't mean anything, but I thought it interesting that nbadraft.net has Zo and Harrow ahead of CJL in the 2013 draft.

this quote really makes me think he's going to stay
Quote :
"whatever I decide to do is going to be whatever I decide to do"

but then this really makes me think he's going to leave
Quote :
"but Leslie said his decision would come in the next "week or so" but added he would observe the NBA deadline, which is April 29"

but then he said this, and i was right back to having no clue what his decision will be

please stop acting like this is something to worry about.

this quote is a response to a question about whether all the other forwards declaring for the draft is going to affect his decision. i'm glad he doesn't care about what other people are doing.

(I was just kidding. He's not going to give it away until he announces, I'm not reading anything into anything. But he'll probably consider the number of other forwards projected ahead of him while he's weighing his options.)

yeah i figured you were, but other people aren't. and yes i would assume this also.

i still feel fairly confident he is going to come back for another year, although this optimism is a new and strange feeling for me.

I think his stock is more likely heading towards a Thomas Robinson than a Brandon Costner.

If he is committed to the program (coaches & teammates) along with the University (and us) then he will stay to mature and make a run at magic. He arguably played his best against the Tarholes, and I can easily see him returning to spank them around...

If he is focused on instant gratification and a paycheck, he'll announce his name for the NBA.

Time will tell... I hope he leans the way of the former. Interesting to see how this could affect Amelie.

Not going to mock the user with less than 10 posts because the user doesn't even seem genuine anyway. But the picture I had from the film, Amélie, looked really cool and stuff.

Yep, I'm just trying to sound smart

It's fucking simple. The NCAA requires you to state your intention to stay in college, if you've previously declared for the draft, by April 10th.

The NBA requires you to declare for the draft by April 29th.

How is that not clear? Anyone with a brain can figure out that as long as you don't declare, then the NCAA deadline is meaningless.
