After losing a 17 point second half lead at home in front of 100 years of NC State basketball tradition and a 19 point first half lead to get beat by ten on the road I can't take seeing the lack of effort and passion we have showed today.

lorenzo brown is putting up a good effort still but he seems to be the only one. I dont know how to instill that a player should give a shit about playing. The school pays your education all we want in return is to not be embarrassed.

At one point Brown was getting more minutes than anyone on the team it was only when he went into his slump and Williams played well for us that he started loosing minutes.

I am not too upset with Leslie's second half performance. He didn't play very good defense but he did pull down some big rebounds which was huge since no one was in the first half.

I agree. Leslie didn't play terrible. He needs to take better shots, but compared to the rest team, he played fairly well today.

He was terrible yesterday. He cannot defend in the post at all. Gave henson a lot of easy baskets. Leslie's offensive game is not bad for his experience level, but his defense made him a net negative yesterday. But everybody buy brown has having a terrible game. Not like you could sub in Howell to do anything with his 2 inch vertical.

UNC's half court offense is just as bad, if not worse than ours. They make up for it in out jumping and out rebounding us. That's how they have always beaten us since forever -- not with strategy but with athleticism.

The only way we have countered their athleticism is the occasional game where some people get hot from 3 point range.

As sick as Harrow looked I don't know that his playing would have accomplished anything other than him getting further dehydrated. If anything I wondered why he was with the team if he is too sick to play. We don't need the flu going through the whole team.

I don't think you're really sticking your neck out on that one. CJL was highly recruited because of his amazing athletic ability. But he's extremely raw offensively and defensively. Harrow and Brown, although young an inexperienced, are polished offensively. And Brown was probably the most ready to play right away as a result of the year of "seasoning" and development he got with his extra year of schooling and basketball.

Leslie shouldn't be allowed to shoot outside of the paint. Put the Jackie Manuel red light on him. He is a liability outside of the paint. His strengths are rebounding and scoring inside. He could be a force if he could improve his touch inside and his free throw shooting. Those should be his priorities for this year. Work on your shooting in the offseason (and don't transfer or turn pro). And holy fuck, quit trying to block every damn shot in the paint. You lose more rebounds than block shots.

Either he's not listening to Sid or Sid is too scared to tell him not too shoot.

I really doubt he will go to the NBA after one season. He is way too raw, his draft stock is dropping, and the potential of a lockout. We'll have at least one more year with CJL.

He's a freshman.

Remember how awesome our lord god and saviour Tracy Smith was as a freshman? The only freshmen in recent history that outplayed Leslie were JJ Hickson, Ced, and maybe, maybe Josh Powell. All of whom were centers....

Granted, the stats don't tell the whole story and don't show especially defense, but pick these freshmen out:

A) 10.7 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 0.3 BPG, 44% FG%, 1.8 TO/game, 27 MPG, 34% 3-point %
B) 10.4 PPG, 7.4 RPG, 1.5 BPG, 43% FG%, 2.0 TO/game, 23 MPG, leading rebounder on the team
C) 12.4 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 1.3 BPG, 57% FG%, 2.5 T/O game, 27 MPG, 38% 3-point %












The Answer: A)Hodge B) Leslie C)Powell

Leslie has some poor body language at times, slacks off at times, but not many freshman contribute the way he has all season. Sure, he isn't the saviour of the program yet, but neither is he Adam Simons either.

if he could just make a few less careless mistakes, only shoot in the paint, and hit a few more free-throws as the season comes to a close, i'd say he had a pretty good freshman year.

^^I understand and agree with your point...but your stats for J Powell were from his sophomore season. His freshman season was 2001-02.

He averaged 7.1 ppg, 3.8 rpg in 19.5 minutes.
