So, i'll be moving into my house in 2 months. I dont plan on getting cable or satellite...

Was wondering what kind of setups you guys had going if you dont have cable/sat.

I'm thinking of building a media PC for streaming from the web (shows like The Office, Parks & Rec, things on Hulu, etc.) and a PS3 for the blueray and streaming netflix.

Might use a Roku box or something similar to have this all wireless.

Thoughts?

I got a nettop for this, myself. Lots of flexibility for online video streaming, and you can still use whatever interface you want. I personally really like using the boxee beta for my TV watching needs. The only thing I don't have with that setup is a DVD/Blu-Ray player integrated, but I have a separate stereo for that, which the nettop feeds in to anyway.

Why separate the two? Just build a Windows 7 Media Center and install a Blu-Ray player instead of a normal DVD player then buy PowerDVD 10 Ultra (worth it, trust me). Your PC will play movies AND Netflix far better than a PS3.

^ yup thats the way to go. HTPC with a BR player (with PowerDVD 10) and your set. I dont have cable/satellite and rely exclusively on the computer to download tv shows and watch movies. ATI graphics cards can output 5.1 through HDMI so you can set up a home theater too if you want.

Netflix doesn't do HD streaming on the PC, at least not yet.

Also this may be relavent to your interests. It's just a rumor, but it sounds plausible.

Sweet. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

So if I go with a Windows 7 based media center with a BR drive, I should be almost set....with Power DVD 10 and Boxee ( just checked out Boxee and it's SWEET. Definitely gotta rock that software or something similar).

So i'm understanding that there's no way to stream netflix HD over a PC?

Anyone have any good links for deals on this hardware?

I want to add online web shows (Hulu and Netflix) from my PC to TV.

Getting the cabling, etc.

What other sites are good for free tv besides Hulu and Netflix?

Why can't you stream Netflix in HD to a TV?
