Bobby Purcell is the only person w/ a current school position that deserves the job whatsoever

I want to know who else is out there that we could get...would be a dream to get Cowher...but big time long shot.

I think Bobby would be a great fit. He would actually be taking a pay cut to be the new AD.

Bobby Purcell is one hell of an individual. Genuinely nice guy, great family man, and knows how to succeed the right way. If you want a character guy in the front office he's your guy. He may not have any AD experience, but he has succeed at every other venture of his. I hope that NC State makes it his if he wants it. I'm just not sure if he would want the position.

to be fair...the oblinger to woodward transition was a one of a kind ordeal, if not for that...we'd still have oblinger

i guess capel isn't a terrible hire...his dad and his brother are coaches...but i just don't see him being any where near as good as them...

i just think capel is an ugly camel face okay?!

Not everyone is cut out to be a commentator. Just because he's not good at that doesn't mean he can't coach.

I for one would like to see us hire outside of anyone currently in the athletic dept or school.

I'd love to get someone like Terry Holland (ECU), someone w/ alot of experience in college sports...obviously holland is probably retiring soon, so he's out of the question(plus I don't think he'd leave ECU for a rival).

on a serious note, Michael Alden from Missouri would be an excellent choice. He's had two home-run hires in revenue sports in Gary Pinkel and Mike Anderson, and greatly improved fundraising and facilities.

I'd be happy with either Purcell or Cobb. We need someone who truly cares about NC State and knows the history of NC State. Fowler did neither. Purcell would be my first choice.

would the directors' cup be a good AD identifier?

http://www.nacda.com/directorscup/nacda-directorscup-previous-scoring.html

granted we don't play all those sports but there are some mid-majors ranked higher than us in revenue-generating sports (football, basketball) that we should talk to.

^It depends.

Stanford could hire me to be their AD and still finish first every year.

Some of those mid-majors are in the situation where some coach has been there for 30 years coaching swimming or fencing or what-have-you, and the AD has been there 8 years.

Or they're just having a big year.

You could look back through the year's of an AD's tenure and get an idea of how their department progressed during their time, though.

Purcell is doing a great job where he is now, I say we let him stay there and find a new AD.

I think we should do like Texas and have an AD for Women and an AD for Men. I think that would be the best route and put accountability on their backs. Not too much pressure on either AD.

I still think that hiring a good Div. II AD is the best route.

Id love to have Stanfords AD obviously but I think that Grand Valley States AD would be the best person for us.

However, as stated....a men and womens AD, separate, would make sense.
