Right now I have a 2009 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab

I am considering bumping up to a full size Silverado.

I found a really good deal on a new one...and IF the dealer gives me KBB value(do they still do that?) There would only be about a $500-$1000 difference in price.

the mpg is about the same honestly...and I like the colorado but...for the $1000 more I can get a full size truck that has a higher long term value.

should I trade or keep the Colorado? im doing fine with it and like it alot...it fits my needs really well.

any advice is welcome.

No way in hell a dealer gives you a brand new full size truck for a 2009 Colorado and a grand

it can happen...ive done the numbers and with all the discounts I get I can get it down to an area where I am essentially just giving up about a grand for the silvy.

What KBB value are you using because they sure as hell aren't cutting their truck down to nothing and then giving you retail or private party value on your truck. They're a business and so they exist to make money. You don't do that by trading a new vehicle for a lower model that's both used and older with $1000 on top. That $1000 would dwindle pretty quickly after commissions, detailing, paperwork, etc....

KBB trade in value, the middle of the road one, not the top offer.

its legit.

why would any dealer do this? if the market is depressed enough where the full size truck is that cheap you are not going to get anywhere close to kbb trade in value on your current truck.

your best bet for this to happen is to sell the colorado yourself on craig's list, because i don't think the dealer will take it for trade in @ that price.

you guys dont understand the point of the thread

they WILL do this... I know the dealer and I know it will/can happen.

the point of this thread is deciding whether I should KEEP the colorado or get a new silverado.

i still don't believe the dealer will do this, you won't get nearly what you are expecting for your current truck

go try, if it works there is no reason not to. but it wont.
