I dont know about you guys, but I am super excited for this next season of douchebaggery. I am going to be cheering hard for the whaler's, and can't wait to see the sad faces when their boat gets ripped apart (as well as when Peter Bethune is arrested).

Paul Watson is a big pile of shit, and I wish someone would haul his ass in and put him behind bars, not just for the crap he does on whale wars, but the stuff he's done in his past.

The best thing I ever saw on Whale Wars was when that Dutch dude called the crew a bunch of incompetent idiots, which was absolutely the case, and they kicked him off. Well, I think they did at least. Basically everyone on that boat is fucking insane to be listening to that Whale of a Captain. The look in these peoples eyes is similar to what I've seen in cult documentaries... and other dumb religious people.

But lol at them running into the japs and thinking it was a huge victory/message.. only to have the japs loop back around and deliver a whale no problem right in front of them. Then the whale lovers realize they put a hole in their own hull. And when they get to shore federal agents raid the boat... Triple fail. It was so funny for them to think its smart to take their non ice rated ship into ice (I think one of the crew members said it was 'brilliant'), take forever to get to the other side, think they have won, and then see the Japs even closer as they made it around...

And then the idiot helicopter pilot... Why was he so far away from the ship? Surely the helicopter can beat the 4-10 knots the ship was making through the ice, and was he site seeing???

They all deserve the Darwin treatment...

How difficult would it be for them to attach a GPS tracking device to the factory ship? I assume it is kept in a relatively secure port that you can't just go scuba diving in, but I'd think it could be done with a little bribery or recruiting an existing employee to their cause. Then, instead of driving around the whole ocean looking for a little blip on their 30 mile radar they could know exactly where the boat is at any given time.

I thought Pete was a pretty smart guy. The compressed air potato gun and the bow and arrow ideas were above and beyond anything I've seen from the other crews.

I haven't seen the prop fouler work yet. I think it's about time for them to give up and quit dumping ropes in the ocean. At least come up with something other than a really thick rope if they're going to keep trying.

The captain of that ship who hit them should be held responsible for the collision IMO. The smaller vessel is supposed to give right of way to the larger vessel, but I believe that applies to areas where space is restricted (waterways, ports, etc). On the other hand, the Ady Gil was on the right and therefore technically had right of way. The larger boat was on a course to pass them and clearly steered into them seconds before the collision. Whether he meant to scare them or hit them really doesn't matter. The captain turned his vessel at them and a collision resulted. It did not appear that the Ady Gil was under power until just before the collision. I would assume the person at the helm saw the impending collision and was trying to avoid it.

In my opinion, they are lucky the whaler's havent brought real weapons to the table, and when someone really gets hurt, they will.

I would agree, that in normal circumstances, the whalers are 100% at fault for the accident. But the activist have brought "war" (this is the world they use, I dont even have to use poetic license) on the whaler's, and shouldnt be the least bit surprised when they are called on it. Its not like a pleasure craft was stuck by accident. It was a boat that had been actively hitting the fleet for 24 hours.

I am conflicted on the entire argument. I have read that the whale they mainly hunt has actually been increasing in numbers, and is a healthy population to hunt. I dont like seeing animals killed, but most of us eat meat from them everyday. It's part of life. If the Sea Assholes didnt do such a shitty job of their activism, then I might be more inclined to pull for them. But they are so dumb in their approach, that are they really are is camera whores. So I have gotten to the point in my mind, where if you are rooting for the activists, you are really rooting for stupidity. I simply cant do that, even if their opponents are out killed the sacred whale.

In fairness, I have watched all the videos many times. It really is hard to tell exactly who is to fault.

However, with that said, who can argue that being so CARELESS as to not be in the position to either steer or power away from a ship that you have been attacking is reason alone to put large amounts of blame of the crash with the Ady Gil.

From watching the Whale Wars episode, it was obvious that Bethume was intoxicated with his accomplishments for the day, and put everyone's lives at risk with a dead ship around their enemies. They are all ignorant.

Vid from the Japanese whaler's ship. He may have been in gear at idle leading up to the :15 mark as it looks like there is a little bit of prop wash, but the boat was not moving in any significant manner that you could say it was "coming towards" the whaling ship. It was only at the :21 mark that you see the Ady Gil power up. I think he gave it forward throttle and tried to turn away to the right, but it's hard to tell. No way they would intentionally pull a stunt like that with the ship's captain and the rest of the crew lounging on the back of the boat.

^ I think most of us agree that was just a poorly executed publicity stunt. That's how I feel at least.

Skack, let me know what your reaction would be if I were shooting a very powerful spud gun in your direction, not caring about what I was aiming at. Knowing you, I dont think you'd take it too well. I have seen those guns up close and personal, and anything that comes out of them has the potential to kill or seriously injure someone. They keep playing this off as fun and games, but they pull stunts that have the potential to seriously hurt themselves or other people.

I also dont think you'd take too kinda to me throwing glass bottles your way with unknown substances inside.

This is not even remotely the same situation as someone egging you. It is much closer to ecoterrorism than activism. Last season, they rammed a ship.

I was simply pointing out that the whalers escalated the situation. LRADs and water cannons are one thing, reckless acts that lead to collision are another. I would fully expect all of the Sea Shepard captains to be held responsible if one of their stupid maneuvers resulted in the destruction of another boat. I'm actually a little surprised that buffoon Paul Watson hasn't sunk his own ship with the stupid stuff he does. I'm not condoning similar recklessness by the Sea Shepard teams at all.

Do you know that this organization has scuttled in port several ships? Some were destroyed by mines. How do you not think this wasn't already escalated. They have a clear history of violence.

I'm not sure how you wouldnt assume the worst from the SS if you were the whalers. they've been proven to be very destructive.

I personally think that the SS escalated the issue with the use of the potato cannon. previously, they were just tossing stuff with their hands. They essentially were firing large projectiles out of a gun. I'm honestly surprised they didnt ram them sooner than they did.
