I figured we could discuss developments at E3 here. Microsoft's conference is today, while Nintendo and Sony is tomorrow.

Here are some rumors I found going around about Zelda, which is really what I want to see.

i'll be most excited about dead space 2, the new mortal kombat game, and zelda. If zelda is hyped up i'd definately buy a wii just to play it.

I am looking forward to what Valve is bringing to the table... After they said it would not be Portal 2, nor Half Life 2:Episode 3, they have to give us something that is equally as good, so I am hoping the buzz is true and we get Half Life 3 on Source Engine 2.

was Zelda twilight princess any good? I've played every Zelda game except that one and could probably find a used copy for cheap and have an excuse to pull my Gamecube back out.

^I thought it was okay. It was pretty much the same formula as Ocarina of Time. A couple of new things added here and there, but the same basic formula. It's worth a rent or a cheap purchase I'd say.

^how was the style? They went back to the "realistic" art and characters similar to OoT and away from the cell-shading cartoon style of Wind Waker right? I really enjoyed Wind Waker as well, but enjoyed the more adult visuals of OoT and MM

Things I'm interested in:

Microsoft:
- Halo Reach campaign gameplay, possibly new features unveiled
- Any kind of Dashboard update (hopefully clan support or Hulu integration)
- What Rare has been up to
- Mildly interested in how Kinect plays

Sony:
- Mildly interested in how Move plays.
- Not much else (even though I have a PS3)

Nintendo:
- 3DS reveal
- New Zelda reveal

Other:
- Whatever it is Valve will show (Portal 2? even though it's delayed)
- Dead Space 2

As stated above, it was very similar in format to OoT. The big differences that I would label:
-The standard combat against basic enemies was amazingly improved over OoT. You had all sorts of new moves at your arsenal as you moved through the game. Granted, you never really get to fully go all out against any of the baddies except for in the trial later on.

-OoT boss fights were amazing. TLP boss fights are just awful. Nothing redeemable about them, except maybe a few of the mini-bosses. Each boss is essentially a "figure out the gimmick and you win" fight. Most bosses don't even engage you if you are at the outer parts of the room, where, conveniently enough, there are urns and urns and urns of welfare hearts. The final boss fight is especially horrible.

-The quitessential Zelda 'switch' (think light world / darkworld) is pretty good, but the actual mechanism for the switch needs a quick-key. It really gets annoying.

-There is a standard Zelda plot, but there are few characters that are actually built up. So it is weaker than OoT in that respect.

I really enjoyed it, but I found myself just hoping for it to be over and not feeling the need to comb it like I did OoT. I don't really have a desire to replay it, either. I'm hoping the new one is better, though I fear motion controls might further embolden the 'gimmick' boss fight movement.

The adventure whatchamacallit looks kind of neat, as long as these are games bundled with the kinect itself. None of these look like they are worth paying money for separately.
