looks like a bunch of girl beers:

Quote :
"Honey Plum Hefeweizen
Inspired by the Asian traditions of plum wine and honey cultivation, Mi Mei (honey plum) is a bridge between the East and the West by using red plums and orange blossom honey to flavor a traditional German style hefeweizen. This beer, mysterious as a woman, shows you everything yet reveals nothing.

Forgotten Hollow - Cinnamon Porter
The one and only. Forgotten Hollow is the first beer crafted by the brothers Roth and remains the show stopper of the series. As a new brew, dark chocolate mixes with a heavy caramel flavor to hide within a spicy malty cinnamon sweetness. Aged between 5 & 8 months, this beer reveals its dark chocolate cherry cordial notes with resolve. Truly, a beer to warm any night.

Valkyrie - Lemon Blonde Ale
Blonde Ales have always been seen as weak and forgettable. Not this girl. Valkyrie, with its full bodied mouthfeel capped by a refreshing sweetness hiding and amplifying the lemon overtones, rises as a victor from any battle. Perfect for a hot summers day, enjoyable by the pint or the pitcher."

that said, i don't mind some girly beers, so if they're on tap at saucer, i'll give them a shot at $3/pint

You didn't post their staple: Raleigh Red.
Wish I was still in town.. They're all really good friends of mine. Get out there in support, TWW!!

Foehammer: 10.5% Barley-wine style Strong Ale. The Slayer known as FoeHammer will be tapped for the first time at 7PM.

Their brewery is right down the street from my parents. If I'm correct from the pictures they posted, I think it's in the industrial complex near the giant post office that has a big porn store in one of the warehouses

If they still have that plum weizen I'll check it out when I'm back home in August.

It's a small concrete block room with no a/c. The high gravity beer is ok but not really worth $7, the amber was kinda bland. We left and went to the ale house and weren't the only people with the save plan.

m52ncsu, thank you for the opinion. Keep in mind they're just starting out -- so perhaps giving them constructive criticism is better than high-tailing it to the ale house.
What 10% beer are you gonna get that's cheaper than $7? (And don't say Steel Reserve shit..) Most of the Belgians at the Saucer are $10+, and the high % ones even at High 5 are up there.
At least at RBC you didn't have to pay tip..

You can't really blame him for going to somewhere with a/c if there wasn't a/c at the brewery.

i really want to try some more of their beers, i only had two (and i'm picky about ambers)

i guess my constructive criticism would be to get climate control or at the very least ceiling fans.

A group of us went out there last weekend and the beer wasn't cold. The people there were really nice but it was disapointing they only had two of the beers, I had gone out hoping to try the porter and the hefeweizen.

Off the top of my head, Piraat Triple IPA or Bell's Expedition Stout.

They have A/C but the place has a tin roof and the tasting room shares the A/C with the brewery. There isn't really any insulation and the money is going to operating costs right now.

Because they are just starting and it's a craft brewery, things like CO2 and temperature are going to vary with the batch. You'll have to give the beers some time and some tastes before they completely settle into their consistency. Already, though, on a 2BBL system, the tastes are remarkably consistent.

Raleigh Red is the least crafty of the beers, the American amber ale for everyone. It's similar to Fat Tire but more refreshing. Not a lot of malt or hop, an all-around good beer that won't blow you away but is enjoyable. It's not my favorite though.
The FoeHammer is an intense barleywine-style strong ale, and it has a LOT of hop. But it also has a lot of malt to make it a little sweet and thus easily drinkable; for a 10% you don't really realize it hitting you. Or I didn't at least lol.

They've only been open since the 12th of June, I wouldn't discount them because all of their beers aren't on tap.
Forgotten Hollow, the porter, is AMAZING. I've had a lot of porters and stouts (those are my favs), and this one is epic. It's up there with Breckenridge Vanilla. They said that it's fermenting right now and should be out by the end of July, maybe early August.
And the Mi Mei (hefeweizen) might not be out until Spring because it IS seasonal and the head brewer apparently wants to use fresh plums rather than puree or frozen.

Also, the blonde isn't really going to come out. The lemon was harder to perfect and they are going to wait on bringing it out before they can get it better on the home system. They are also coming up with more beers that they want to try, but that will be a while (obviously) before it goes onto the commercial system.

Side note: Big Boss Big Operator. It's not anywhere but the Big Boss Brewery (off Atlantic Ave) right now (apparently it's seasonal to Jan/Feb and they made a lot of it, so they're selling it at their taproom for $3.25. AWESOME.)

maybe I'm a Philistine, but I like my beer to taste more or less bitter

not like chocolate, plums, or orange blossoms

seems to me like a bit like putting strawberries and chocolate syrup on a black Angus steak

I have no clue what that's all about, but I do agree that I'm so much cooler than you and everyone else here that y'all can't even begin to understand how bad ass it is to be me. As far as the last statement, there's a logical fallacy going on there. I should point out that the coolest person in the world is cooler than everyone on here and I happen to be that individual. You can be smarter than everyone in a group where all other individuals have down's syndrome and also still be the smartest person in the world (Which I am, btw).

Horrible name. Doesn't match the beer at all. Should be called The Monroe or somebody blonde and light, not after some nazi movie.

^Not everything revolves around Hollywood. The guys love Norse mythology, and one of their trademark mottos is "Valhalla when I die!"

A valkyrie decides who will die in battle to go to Valhalla.
