Motherfuckers should be hanged in the public square... and people who support their barbaric actions, including the "very much educated people" should just fucking disappear from the earth.

in general, no i don't support the death penalty
but in the RARE cases where it might be appropriate, it should be done with reluctance and sadness, not an eager bloodthirst for vengeance

Indian couple slain in 'honor killing'
Quote : | "New Delhi, India (CNN) -- Asha Saini and Yogesh Kumar were in love and wanted to get married. But Saini's family did not approve of Kumar: As a taxi driver, they said, he did not have the right kind of job. But more importantly for them, he was from a lower caste.
Despite their objections, Saini, 19, kept seeing Kumar, 20. To keep them apart, her father and uncle tortured and killed the couple, police say.
"We killed them because we were against their relationship. If someone comes to your house to meet your niece at midnight, what more do you do?" her uncle, Om Prakash, told reporters in televised remarks outside a police station in the Indian capital following his arrest.
The victims were one of five sets of couples killed in one week in India in June. Some have dubbed the cases "honor killings" because the families feel they have to act against their children -- usually their daughters -- to save the family's reputation.
Police say the family tried everything to discourage the relationship, including arranging Saini's engagement to another man.
In the end, investigators say the family turned to violence. A neighbor who lives next door to the crime scene said he heard the terrible screams in the night -- and also got a glimpse of what was causing them.
"Big, thick sticks were being used. The girl was screaming, kill me but leave him," said Umesh Kumar, who is not related to Yogesh. "They were beating her so much, the blood was like a fountain coming out of her head."
Kumar said he tried to help but his phone wasn't working and none of the other neighbors would lend him a phone to call police. None of the others called the police themselves.
"It isn't our business anyway. They should have obeyed the parent's wishes. That is just the way it is," said another neighbor, who did not want to be named.
Authorities have charged Prakash and Saini's father, Suraj Kumar Saini, with murder. Neither has entered a plea, and court cases are pending." |

disobeying your parents is NOT a crime in india. it IS in some countries, but not in india. and even if it were a crime, the lovers criminals should be arrested and tried in court, not beaten to death with a wooden rod by their immediate relatives. 7/9/2010 12:14:43 PM |

there is some truth to this
I like you, 0EP, but it amazes me how you can talk about all these acts of vengeance which you claim to support/have actually carried out, and no matter what the specific instance, the act of vengeance is always more or less justified in your eyes
and yet you are probably the most sensitive person on TWW when it comes to anything touching on human rights
I mean, the whole point of human rights is, don't hurt people.

^^ just to be clear, i might have said it a few times that people who have committed terrible crimes against humanity should be lynched in public by the public, but that has always been a knee-jerk reaction.
this is my stance, no matter what the crime and who the criminal is:
try them, find them guilty, and execute them.
yes, i said "find them guilty", because i am specifically talking about people who have brazenly committed the premeditated atrocities in broad day light and there is no doubt as to who the perps are. like those guys committing honor killings and then boasting about them. or child rapists. or serial killers.
Quote : | "I mean, the whole point of human rights is, don't hurt people." |
AND also when someone's rights are trampled, it is their RIGHT to have the trampler suitably punished. Without that 2nd part, there is no such thing as "human rights". It is a package.

The fact that the system is corrupt and it all comes down to how good your lawyer is based on how much money you shell out, I can't support a system like that. " |

^^ that's certainly appalling
I am, however, in favor of the death penalty when there were multiple neutral witnesses, when the crime has been captured on tape, when DNA evidence implies that there are only 10 people in the world who could have done it, or when there is some other factor which makes the criminal's guilt absolutely certain
Other than that, I'm really not sure] 7/9/2010 1:38:54 PM |

Witnesses have been disproved to be very reliable.
Experiment: Subject were shown a video of an unmasked man committing a crime. The subjects were then asked to point out the criminal in a line up and told the criminal was one of them... except the real criminal wasn't in the lineup picture at all. 100% of them pointed to a suspect in the picture because they were told the criminal was in the picture, where it dropped to about 80% when they were told the suspect may or may not be in the picture.
