Now I know what most of you are thinking...
[old]

But America's #1 finger pointer is at it again.

Quote :
"President Barack Obama on Thursday blamed immigration policy gridlock on "political posturing and special interest wrangling."

In a speech, Obama took Republicans to task, in particular 11 GOP senators who supported recent efforts to improve the immigration system. He did not name any, but told his largely supportive audience at American University that those lawmakers had succumbed to the "pressures of partisanship and election-year politics."

"The question now is whether we will have the courage and the political will to pass a bill through Congress, to finally get it done," the president said. "I'm ready to move forward, the majority of Democrats are ready to move forward and I believe the majority of Americans are ready to move forward. But the fact is that without bipartisan support, as we had just a few years ago, we cannot solve this problem."

"Reform that brings accountability to our immigration system cannot pass without Republican votes," he said. "That is the political and mathematical reality."

For what its worth, I already posted about the same speech earlier today in another one of the many immigration threads (we now have at least 4 immigration threads in the first 2 pages of the soapbox), the one that I found highest up on the front page of the soap box:

Not that I have any objection to more frequent, smaller threads, but just in case it was overlooked.

[Edited on July 1, 2010 at 3:24 PM. Reason : Although maybe this was intended as a President Obama's Crediblity thread?]

^re-read, in your feeble attempt at humor you shot yourself in the foot with circular logic pointing out that for the same reasons these threads are old and tired - Obama's tactics are old and tired.

He campaigned on the fact that we didn't need more of the same - but that's all he's given us.

^ He's a politician. The only people that expected different from him on that regard are idiots. That said, petty bickering is a part of the so-called political process, and since this is done in spades by both major parties, I don't see why we needed yet another thread to point out that it occurs.

^ because this is The Soap Box. Petty bickering is part the pseudo-serious conversations that take place here, and since this is done in spades by most of the users, I don't see why I shouldn't be free to produce yet another thread to the same effect.
