I dusted off my old 7x35 binos and started doing some outdoor viewing ....yesterday i picked up a pair of celestron skymaster 15x70 and WOW, the difference is night and day with the FOV and magnification

so much so that now I have the giant binocular bug and want even higher magnification...i would like to be under $100 and notice celestron has some other models

wondering if anyone has experience with any of these and if it's worth the difference to upgrade to a higher mag and if there are any disadvantages.....

Celestron SkyMaster 25x70
Celestron UpClose 20x50 - not sure what the upclose series vs skymaster difference is
Celestron SkyMaster (20-100x70) - this seems to have variable zoom

Check the birdwatching forum on TWW.

or ask the creepy wolfweb stalkers such as DNL, Big4Country, and billytalent.

I got this in 2009 for $17 shipped. For let's say $100ish or less, what can I get in 2025?

I've enjoyed my Athlon binoculars, although they were either $250 or $350 when I bought them. This is the cheapest pair that I see on their website:

Thanks for contributing! What is your primary use...Bird watching? Star gazing?

At first I wanted more beefy binoculars, but if they are so unwieldy that I can't hold them for longer than a minute or two before my arms start getting fatigued, kinda defeats the purpose. Have you ever thought to yourself "I wish my binoculars weighed less" or "I wish my binoculars were more compact"?

A little bit of both, but mostly bird watching.

I've never felt like my pair of binoculars were too heavy or needed to be smaller, and they may be a couple ounces heavier than the pair that I linked.

Thanks for the insight. Still researching, see vortex diamondback is another entry level binocular around that price

BHPhotoVideo consistently has some of the best prices found online.

If they are too heavy, you can always consider small tripod mountable versions.

The Vortex Diamondback are a decent entry level binocular. Riton also makes a decent entry level set.
