I'm surprised North Korea has a women's soccer team, let alone an under-20 women's soccer team that's good enough to beat brazil. Apparently they were runners-up in the last cup, too.

I made that joke during the WC...that regardless of where N. Korea finished...their citizens would be informed that they had won yet another World Cup

this is a serious thread. did you know north korea was that good? granted i don't follow women's soccer at all, but that's pretty impressive to come in 2nd in the last cup.

This thread has as much chance of sticking around as dweedle and Slave Famous have at a Cookout rematch.

Not that it is a big deal, but is FIFA trying to give everything to the same nation/continent at the same time? Germany hosted the 2006 FIFA World Cup, are hosting the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, and next year they are hosting the FIFA Women's World Cup.

Last year the continent of Africa hosted the U-17 World Cup, U-20 World Cup, and FIFA World Cup this year.

5-0 win against Switzerland with a hat-trick by UCLA's Sydney Leroux

Next game is against South Korea on Wednesday. They have 6 points and lead the group. If we tie or win, we move on to the quarterfinals.

also, north korea beats new zealand 2-1.

some images from the cup

some games are more crowded than others

me gusta #11 ~~~<3 #10.... not so much

nice shots of those cool throw-ins girls do

Carolina represent!

Some women are more masculine than others

The mascot looks way too happy. Or maybe there's another firebombing on the way. Too hard to tell.

I never get into any of the womens tournaments, but I do enjoy the men's U-20 World Cup and Olympics. Some of those players are on the full team within a year, or two, if they already aren't.

I know you dedicated fans already know we're in the quarterfinals, but for those curious, we play nigeria sunday. the winner plays the winner of the columbia/sweden game.

the intriguing match-up is the possible north korea/south korea clash if they both win their games.

That would only make a NGR-GER final. You need Niger to play Germany.
