I plan to take the FE exam next semester. Any of you take that prep class (E490) offered on Wednesday nights? Did it help you at all? Is it worth taking? 7/14/2010 8:11:56 PM |

it does help, but at the same time it's nothing you couldn't do in four hours on your own.
you might as well sign up though, you don't have to go to the lectures. 7/14/2010 8:53:02 PM |

Didn't really help me all that much. I went to the first few classes, skipped the rest, didn't do most of the book, then made this thread. Its good for review and to pop in once a week/semester its alright I guess. Its only 1 credit hour too, and you just go as much as you want.7/16/2010 8:03:32 AM |

I took it 2 1/2 years ago. I didn't do anything to study except 1 week before hand. Had no problem with it. If you're involved in your classes when you take it, it will be not much of a task. 7/16/2010 9:20:28 AM |

does anyone remember what the fee was? 140 or 280? I'm sending in my app in the next day or two and wasnt sure if I have to pay for both the Student EI Application and for the Engineering Fundamentals (Exam I)...

I'd been told it was just 140, but the site makes it seem like you need to pay for both the app and the exam seperately, 140 each. 7/19/2010 9:26:09 PM |

^^It was only $140 for me a couple of years ago.
It is saying is that it's $140 for a student application. If you are not eligible to use the student application then you have to use the standard PE application and pay the same $140 for the FE.
Quote : | "This Student Application may be used by graduates or scheduled graduates of an ABET-accredited engineering curriculum or engineering program ONLY as follows:
1. Students scheduled for graduation, or who have attained senior status and are within two (2) semesters of graduation. 2. Graduates of an ABET – accredited engineering curriculum who are within two (2) years after graduation.
All other applicants & Technology applicants must file the standard Professional Engineer Application form which may be obtained online." |
