Anyone else having a shitload of problems with lag on DVR and searching the guide?

That, and today, they sent an email saying "A software error occurred causing many digital cable customers in the Triangle and Fayetteville to lose their digital channels. While we were able to restore service for some customers, many are still experiencing channel outages. "

WTF??

Trying to watch digital cable (through a box) didn't work today until around 4:00pm. Internet was fine and I could watch tv hooked to the wall.

I haven't been able to watch anything that the DVR has recorded this week. Lots of lag and stuttering and then it jumps around shows sometimes.

I called about this and my internet being complete shit from 8-11pm on weekday evenings.

A guy came out and said that a lot of people have been complaining about the guide being super slow and the DVR playback being garbage. Basically, he said there is nothing they can do.

Anyone having problems with packet loss on their internet weekday nights? I have run ping tests to google.com for 10 minutes on end and every 5-20 seconds, I would get a "Request timed out"

I'm an online gamer and I constantly get booted or get 300+ pings while in game. Anyone else?

These stories make me cry . I don't know what I'll do if I ever move somewhere and TWC is the only option.

Thank you U-Verse.

I upgraded to Digital Cable at the beginning of the summer, and up until a couple weeks ago, re-booting the box restored blank channels, but now that does not work...its frustrating when you can't watch something you are paying for...I have called and they gave me the same spiel, they really ought to credit us something for this trouble...

I've been having problems with their digital box/service/dvr for months. Sometimes the box is super responsive, sometimes when I am viewing the guide it will literally have a 10-20 second delay between hitting page up, and having the guide page change. Also, while watching recorded content on the DVR, frequently it is super laggy when I try to fast forward, rewind, play, pause, etc. I'll hit the button and nothing will happen for a good 10-20 seconds, which makes fast forwarding through commercials sometimes result in ending up a good 2-3 minutes past the end of commercials before it plays.

Also, there are periods where fast forward just wont work at all. It will look like its going to work for a moment, and then just go back to playing as though nothing happened. I record things so I don't have to watch the commercials -- not happy when I have to watch them anyways.

TWC has been super helpful in getting this resolved /sarcasm. I've swapped out boxes twice to no avail. Calling tech support is a waste of time, "Oh hello sir, I will just send a hit down to your box which will clear this up right away!" *cough*bullshit*cough*, after the 5 minute reboot cycle same problem. "Oh sir sounds like you might have a bad box, you should come into one of our offices to swap it out!". *cough*bullshit*cough* still doesn't work. This was never a problem until 4-5 months ago when they upgraded their God awful software on the digital boxes to an even more unholy bitch.

The moment U-verse or another good alternative comes into my neighborhood I will be leaving in a heart beat.

/rant

I wouldn't even mind switching to Direct TV, its just with being in an apartment, the satellite would have to be installed IN my screened in porch...

my box has a huge delay.. i'll hit guide button, nothing happens...so i'll hit it again... then it comes up and goes away because i hit it twice....super slow

but i just deal with it b/c it is less painful than dealing with their customer service

The thing that I think is ludicrous is that they expect you to go to one of their offices to swap a faulty box. So your shit breaks and I have to come to you???

also, these silver hd-dvr's are absolute garbage... does anyone have one of the new black ones?

My current problem list:

-Huge box delay, 3-5 seconds normally, sometimes completely unresponsive
-Often get the "TO ORDER THIS CHANNEL CALL TIME WARNER AT" when it's a fucking channel I would have on basic cable, like channel 34 or something.
-The DVR is way too small to handle HD content. I can only record at most like 15 hours of HD, which during a regular season is not that much at all.
-If I save up past like 80% the HD recordings often get corrupted
-Often times the DVR only records like 1 minute of an hour long show
-The box will sometimes reset in the middle of the night. This wouldn't be a problem except it fucking adds back on all of the shit I canceled in the scheduled recordings. This reached a boiling point when I spent like 2 hours meticulously planning our DVR schedule for the beach trip (which I had to meticulously manage due to the tiny DVR space). The box reset sometime while we were gone, and all of the shit I cancelled got added back on. This caused the series finale of LOST to be erased for some other stupid show.

Fuck Time Warner Cable. Give me U-Verse or give me death.

The guy who installed it for me, told me that if I ever upgraded to a DVR box (just have a normal one), that to request one of the black Samsung ones. So maybe try and ask the guy there if he will give you one of those instead

I just took my Samsung box back since it died. It was louder than the SA box and it was a lot hotter. I do miss the stretched guide though.

i think im gonna term my tv package. I just dont watch it enough to justify the cost and twc (in maine atleast) doesn't do hd content to cable card users. So i cant even get any benefit out of it that way. Does directtv or whoever have any packages that are just a few specific channels?

All I really want is freakin NESN so i can watch the sox and bruins. Maybe some science/discovery channel and food network.

Shaggy, check this link to see what your zipcode gives you.

[Edited on July 26, 2010 at 4:47 PM. Reason : RSN Lookup Tool]

otherwise, the Sports Pack is $12.99 a month for everything.

So your payment would be around $50-$60 a month with the basic package and the sports package.
