Dear moron,

It's almost hard to believe, but we are now less than 100 days out from this year's election. In just over three months, voters will enter the polls and decide a race that will impact the lives of the residents of Minnesota's 6th District - and that has national implications as well.

Just last week, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann said that if the Republicans take Congress, "all they should do is issue subpoenas and hold one hearing after another." This weekend, at the Right Online conference, Bachmann was encouraged to become the Speaker of the House should Republicans get a majority.

Meanwhile, with your help, Tarryl Clark is waging an unprecedented campaign to unseat the self-appointed Chair of the Tea Party, Michele Bachmann. And the 3,000 in attendance at this year's Netroots Nation gathering were on their feet on Saturday night when Tarryl took the stage. In fact, they gave Tarryl not just one standing ovation, but two. Not bad for a State Senator from St. Cloud, Minnesota.

While we appreciate the whoops and cheers and are extremely thankful for your support and all the work of the netroots on our behalf, we need you to be a part of our 99 days effort. As Tarryl said in her speech on Saturday night, "We can let complacency, frustration, or alienation keep us home... Or we can stand up, fight again, and win."

Please take a moment and ask your friends to be a part of our historic campaign today.

We need you - and everyone you know who shares our values - to stand up, to fight against the self-appointed leader of the Tea Party Caucus, and to make our voice be heard on Election Day.

Thanks for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Zach Rodvold
Campaign Manager

P.S. - Today we announced a major endorsement here at home - the Minnesota Police Officers Association endorsed Tarryl for Congress! We now have support from organizations that represent over 100,000 voters in our district. Help us keep up the momentum by asking your friends and family to join us today.

Bachman’s lead has been whittled down to about 8 points (with a 4% margin of error) as of about a week ago. It’s not likely, but it’s possible she could be defeated… i guess if you know anyone in this district you can try to get them to vote for the remotely sane candidate, and you can always maybe donate some $$$ too to Clark.

If the cops support her she must be (more)corrupt.

My money is on Bachman.

From my thread called "Tea party officially labeled a Republican group?"
http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=599179

http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/republicans/a/michele-bachmann-quotes.htm
Quote :
"Top 10 Craziest Michele Bachmann Quotes

1. "I find it interesting that it was back in the 1970s that the swine flu broke out under another, then under another Democrat president, Jimmy Carter. I'm not blaming this on President Obama, I just think it's an interesting coincidence." -Rep. Michele Bachmann, on the 1976 Swine Flu outbreak that happened when Gerald Ford, a Republican, was president, April 28, 2009

2. "I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out: Are they pro-America or anti-America?" -Rep. Michelle Bachmann, calling for a new McCarthyism, Oct. 2008

3. "Take this into consideration. If we look at American history, between 1942 and 1947, the data that was collected by the Census Bureau was handed over to the FBI and other organizations at the request of President Roosevelt, and that's how the Japanese were rounded up and put into the internment camps. I'm not saying that that's what the Administration is planning to do, but I am saying that private personal information that was given to the Census Bureau in the 1940s was used against Americans to round them up, in a violation of their constitutional rights, and put the Japanese in internment camps." -Rep. Michele Bachmann, June 2009"

It's lucky that she's not saying a lot of inflammatory crazy stuff, can you imagine if she did? Even Glenn Beck might shake his head in disbelief.

Quote :
"Bachmann said she wanted Minnesotans "armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back." In the interview, she also stated that Thomas Jefferson had said that "having a revolution every now and then is a good thing."

But lets give the Tea Party Republican Caucus their due:
http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-07-22/michele-bachmanns-crazy-tea-party-caucus/

Quote :
"• Paul Broun (R-GA)—the first congressman to compare Obama to Hitler—one week after the election.
• Trent Franks (R-AZ)—called President Obama an “enemy of humanity”
• Steve King (R-IA)—said that “al Qaeda, and the radical Islamists and their supporters, will be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on September 11” if Obama were elected.
• Louie Gohmert (R-TX)—compared homosexuality to bestiality and necrophilia in a debate over hate crimes on the House floor.
• Randy Neugebauer (R-TX)—screamed “baby killer” at Congressman Bart Stupak (D-MI) after the health-care bill vote on the House floor.
• Lamar Smith (R-TX)—told students that “the greatest threat to America is not necessarily a recession or even another terrorist attack…The greatest threat to America is a liberal media bias.”
• Joe Wilson (R-SC)—“You Lie!”

This is just a partial list of their greatest hits, recited more or less from memory. But if you’re looking for more substantive evidence of the schism, here’s something to consider: Seven of the 12 co-sponsors of the Birther Bill are charter members of the Tea Party Caucus."

This woman is literally insane. It speaks volumes to her district's credibility that she has a chance of being reelected.

I have no real problem if a district honestly elects a fiscally conservative Republican, maybe even a socially conservative one depending on the district makeup, but this woman is just fucking batshit nuts and doesn't need any power.

^^There's a difference between being stupid and being fucking insane.

George Bush was harmless. He was just stupid. Karl Rove was insane.

LOL that video about the census almost made me spit my drink.

Do they know that the requirement for a census is in the Constitution? weird how the Tea Party sometimes worships the document and sometimes doesn't give a fuck

What I'd really like everyone to consider is that a vote for any national democrat candidate is a vote to help pres. Obama continue his failing economic agenda.
You'll have some big tax increases, more job-killing anti-business regulations, and a mess of a health-care bill headed your way if the dems keep control of the congress in November.

Although I am no fan of most of the republicans, we desperately need some balance.

So you would rather vote for a complete and total loon?

Sorry, I don't vote to try to keep some mythical "balance," I vote for whoever I see fit for the job. And Michelle Bachman scares me. She really does.

http://www.washingtonblade.com/2010/08/12/gop-house-members-move-to-condemn-prop-8-ruling/

Quote :
"A group of conservative House Republicans on Tuesday introduced a resolution in Congress to condemn the recent federal court decision overturning Proposition 8 in California.

...

Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) is sponsoring the resolution, H. Res. 1607. The measure is pending before the House Judiciary Committee."

Quote :
"“And those with religious objections to same-sex marriage distinguish between the conduct, which they consider inappropriate, and the person, whom they may cherish and appreciate.”

As of Wednesday, the resolution had 17 co-sponsors, including Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) and Steve King (R-Iowa)."

Not everyone who shares your religion shares your feelings, and your religious feelings have nothing to do with the laws and rules of a secular government.

Quote :
"Christian Berle, deputy executive director of the National Log Cabin Republicans, said the measure was “in direct contradiction” to the tenets of individual liberty espoused by the Republican Party.

“Log Cabin Republicans would oppose any effort by Congress to play politics with this ruling,” Berle said. “Now is the time for Republicans to focus on the real issues voters care about: jobs, the economy, taxes, government spending and a free market economy.”

Michael Mitchell, executive director of the National Stonewall Democrats, said the proposed resolution represents “a willful disregard for the three branches of government.”

“On the one hand, I think it’s grandstanding,” he said. “I think that they’re just really trying to shore up their base. I think that they are definitely on the wrong side of history and that time is going to show that very quickly even in their own party.”

But in an e-mail blast Wednesday, Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage, which opposes marriage rights for same-sex couples, urged supporters to call their members of Congress to join on as co-sponsors to the resolution."

Any time I hear NOM is involved I just know its something stupid. They are the ones that just bussed into NC earlier this week and protested NC not having a constitional amendment banning gay couples from getting married in downtown Raleigh.

There was a counter demonstration too, this was my favoriate sign from it:

I guess you can try to associate the Tea Party up with religious nuts. But I see the Tea Party movement as pretty secular. They want lower spending and lower taxes and more gov't responsibility.

But it doesn't matter much since Obama and the democrats in power are self-destructing.

I remember back when people were saying on the Tea Party is just a independent non-affiliated movement too rather than be associated with the Republican party.

At first I was just aiming to post the list, then I noticed the names seemed to have a good deal of overlap between the official tea party republican caucus (9 out of 17). But no worries, association with "religious nuts" is not necessary. For anyone for which that association would be negatively viewed, the official Michelle Bachman association already trumps that by far.

If you force anyone to pay, for whatever angelic cause, it's still extortion. And didn't Obama take contributions from Wall Street fat-cats and big corporations?

And, not that it matters, but how do we know for sure the guys in her ad are really named Jim?

What's more important is to stop the democrats failing strategy on the economy.
