The first matchup against another NFC East team isn't until week 7, and the rest are crammed into the second half of the season. Should be interesting to see how the standings work out.

Eli has formed a very special connection with Hakeem Nicks who is expected to play a major role with Hixon out for the season. Also, expect this to be a breakout year for Andre the Giant.

Linval Joseph is like WHOA on the D-line.....*cough* when the starters need a breather. lol

Kinda hate to see Nicks do so well. As if the heels need anything to be boastful about.

Glad to see Brown catching another wind. 3rd wind? 4th wind?

Injuries are already starting to pile up

Report from 8/10:
Quote :
"CB Corey Webster is dealing with a glute issue and was in and out of practice.

Backup C Jim Cordle hit the ground and writhed in pain with an apparent knee injury. Cordle had it examined but then returned and practiced.

There was a tight end MASH unit on the sideline: Kevin Boss (hamstring/ankle), Travis Beckum (hamstring), Scott Chandler (hip flexor) and Jake Ballard (hamstring) did not practice.

WR Sinorice Moss (groin), WR Steve Smith (groin), G Rich Seubert (hand) and G Kevin Boothe (pectoral) also did not work on Tuesday. "

4 tight ends all at once...damn

This line is intriguing: V. Cruz 6 receptions for 145 yards, 3 TDs

Preseason means nothing but damn do we need a receiver to step up like that this season.

And Brown had 3 kick returns for 53 yards

Considering that only the 3rd string QB played and the best WR was kicked out early, not a bad performance.

Andre Brown was the leading rusher of the game.

Cruz is a fucking beast. Experts are already saying this very well can be the best receiving core in the league.

Andrew Brown is out for 2 weeks

But once he's back, I think he will be a real force to be reckoned with. Bradshaw is expected to have an amazing year, but I think having 3 reliable running backs will be great for the team (especially Eli so he can make better use of those receivers)

I didn't get to watch this one but I saw a few replays...pretty sloppy but still a good win. After review it looks like all 3 of Eli's interceptions were the fault of the receivers. I am thrilled about Kenny Phillips and how well he did today...made some major game changing plays (tackled a would-be touchdown to force a field goal instead and made an endzone interception).

Manning Bowl II next week...after the loss to Houston I can imagine the Colts will be playing with something to prove. This does not bode well. I'm not expecting a win here.

I wish they could both lose.

Brandon Jacobs might actually have a decent game against that soft Colts run defense. The Giants D-Line should have a field day against one of the worst offensive lines in football. Peyton is gonna get hit early and often.

I find myself rooting for the Giants in this matchup, oddly.

^^The difference is Peyton doesn't quit like Matt Moore. As soon as the D-Line started breaking through in the second half Moore shriveled up in fetal position. Peyton will only take the game more into his own hands and make things happen.

I hate to use the old Hansborough term, but I don't think Peyton's will power can lose two games in a row. Has he ever started a season 0-2?

Obviously I'm still cheering for the Giants, I'm just not very confident after how sloppy the last game was.

Eli wasn't as bad as his stats looked. The O-Line couldn't keep anyone from getting through, and it felt like Eli ended up on the ground after almost every single pass play. The first drives both offensively and defensively of the 2nd half were fantastic, and they showed they were capable of doing it. But the turnovers were just too much and the defense couldn't do anything against the run. It was very frustrating to watch.

Just remember that one touchdown was on a fumble near the goal line, and another was because Johnson blew his coverage (which Phillips certainly would have been able to stop if he hadn't gotten hurt a couple plays earlier). I'm not saying the Giants should have won this game, far from it. But this was one less injury and one less fumble away from being a 24-21 game.

Chicago game:
Quote :
"The Bears came in with the top-ranked defense against the run, surrendering a total of 119 yards in the first three games. Ahmad Bradshaw, though, found seams in the Bears defense. Often cutting back against the grain and eluding defenders, Bradshaw rushed for more than 100 yards for the first time this season and scored a touchdown. "

Houston game:
Quote :
" Arian Foster came into the game as the NFL’s leading rusher and was held to nine yards on eight carries and zero first downs in the first half."

The Giants are making a habit out of ruining the opposition's statistical trends. I'm loving it. 3-2 and tied for first is a pretty good situation to be in considering what's going on in the rest of the league.

The next four games (with a bye week in the middle) include the Lions, Seahawks, and 2 games against the Cowboys. That should be at least 3-1, if not 4-0 if Dallas keeps playing with such little discipline. 7-2 after week 10 would be pretty sweet. The last 4 weeks look daunting (Vikings, Eagles, Packers, Redskins) so we need these wins now.

Other than the first half of the first quarter, this was the most fun I've had watching a regular season game in a long time.

Stat of the game: Dodge, 55 yards per punt, with a long of 69

Things are looking up.

I can't agree with that being stat of the game when he's out-kicking his coverage.

A little more hang time (Landeta) and a little less distance, please.

Stat of the game was us cleanly dropping QB #5 for the season

Hasselbeck might wear #8, but he's about to be #6

We didn't just knock out #5, we took out the entire Cowboys' season. Priceless.

Playing in Seattle hasn't been the best of times for the Giants, but I'm still feeling pretty confident that they take this one easily.

Final: 41-7

I didn't watch the game but from looking at the stats it seems that a lot of the starters sat out the 4th quarter when the Seahawks actually scored.

11/28 Jaguars
12/5 Redskins
12/12 @Vikings
12/19 Eagles
12/26 @Packers

6-2, tied for best record in the NFL.

The 101-return was Nicks' fault more than it was Manning's...and don't forget there would have been a touchdown just 2 plays before if it wasn't for the false start on a guy who has been out the entire first half of the season.

If that pick-6 doesn't happen and the Giants had scored on that drive, it would have been a 27-26 game in favor of the Giants.

Yes the Giants looked awful and I'm not trying to say any of this was excusable, but the game was a lot closer than the score makes it look. Besides, the offense had a decently good game aside from just a couple of miscues. The Giants should still be considered the best team in the division, even if the Eagles win tonight.

If the Packers win, the Giants are out. We need to beat the Redskins AND have the Packers lose to the Bears. The Bears are still trying to lock in a bye so hopefully they will still be playing hard.
