I made a new thread to get a more appropriate title
Alright, here's the situation.
You are 27, have 30k in your bank account, and free tuition to any public school in NC (1200), RI (1700), Conn (1935), Colorado (1460), Virgina (1300), Oregon (1000), Alaska (1836), and New Mexico (1248).
The number in the () is the average living stipend you'd get per month, on top of tuition, and 1000 a year for books.
You are currently interesting in Computer Science, but you could see yourself switching to another engineering/math/science major if so inclined.
You have completed about 10 of the required CSC courses through distance ed at NCSU as well as many of the non-major electives.
What do you do? 8/15/2010 11:19:38 AM |

I would probably do Colorado. Alaska sounds cool, but not for that long period of time. I love to ski and the Rockies are amazing (beautiful during the summer as well). 8/15/2010 1:42:21 PM |

VT - but you are 27 and will be over the college bar scene soon, not much else to do except out-doorsy stuff VCU - a good school but not as highly recruited by companies as NCSU NCSU - The right choice for you my friend
That is just my opinion. also UCONN might we worth a look. 8/15/2010 1:53:51 PM |

alright ill chime in since I'm using the GI Bill for grad school right now
Do not go the public school route. Out of all the schools I applied to, the major private universities made sure that if I went there I wouldn't have to pay hardly a dime out of pocket. At a lot of public schools there was still things that I was going to have to pay for.
For instance I decided on NYU. My tuition, fees, healthcare, etc is all completely paid for. I get around 2800 a month for the stipend, and even after paying my rent I could pretty much live off that without having to work if I wanted to.
So if you've got good grades and test scores, I would just start applying to the best schools for your major

The correct answer is the school with the most and hottest chicks. Academics don't matter once you get in the real world 8/15/2010 5:38:00 PM |

If you're into outdoorsy stuff and like nice scenery, CO or Oregon. Isn't Colorado State or UC a big engineering/vet school? 8/15/2010 7:55:24 PM |
