how bizarre is the movie going to get, I'm not sure from that trailer if she was physically turning in to a swan or if that was just a device

anyway though, oh well a bad ass movie about ballet is kind of cool and I like the concept but it seems like they could have gotten someone better than portman

I don't know, maybe they could actually try having auditions instead of just selecting from a list of celebrities, portman might have some ballet experience though but she seems like she's only good when paired with older more skilled actors, portman +kunis seems kind of risky

^ ehh, idk about that. I like her. And I liked firefly, serenity, even liked her in the terminator series. But she hasn't done much outside of the "Awkward/weird" role. Not saying she couldn't do it, but she's certainly no shoe-in over natalie portman. And I'm not sure she's done anything dramatic.


are you guys legitimately looking forward to this? How much of it has to do with "Directed by Darren Aronofsky" compared to say... this trailer or the story? imo, the trailer kind of makes it look like a remake of a japanese ghost story or something. Without me liking The Wrestler, The Fountain, Pi, and at least appreciating Requiem, I'm not sure i'd be "looking forward" to this. Interested, probably... but that doesn't take a whole lot for me.

So the release date is 12/22 and not today? Moviefone has it on their front page, imdb has it as today... But no theaters in raleigh have it. Closest is DC. So I figure this is limited. But I didn't see anything for an official wide-release date.

Today is the official release but it is limited. The website I found yesterday had select cities & theatres today and more next week. Raleigh wasn't on it...iirc no NC city/theatre. Glad to hear there's at least a tentative one for Raleigh.

i'm pretty much dying to see this movie. i'm sure people will hate on me saying this but natalie portman is, in my opinion, one of the most attractive actresses ever. and she's fairly talented. i'm excited to see it's going to be playing in more theaters around here. when i first looked it wasn't even listed in any north carolina theaters.
