This will be my first season pulling for the Canes. My wife recently took a job with U of Miami and we have relocated here, even living in an apartment on campus. Obviously NCSU is #1 but it might be nice having a team to pull for that has potential to win some games...

wow, really? I thought that was a pretty good game. Ohio State's defense is really really good, this wasnt a bad loss. Miami will be fine the rest of the year, they have another big game in two weeks at Pittsburgh that will dictate how well they do the rest of the season

or it could've been there was a block in the back (#36 for OSU) that helped on the kickoff return, and the fact that 5 guys for OSU over-ran the return man on the punt return. Yes, those were good displays of speed. what about the other ~100 plays?

If Michigan fires Rich Rod, I'd be terrified of him going there. The talent & speed he could get at Miami would dwarf that he got at WVU, and he'd likely be very successful with his spread offense. Just a bad fit for Michigan and Big 10 football in general

They're talking Gruden, but I don't think that'll happen. Don't think miami can afford him, and I don't think he'd go there. Even so, not sure he'd scare me that much. Big differences from college to the NFL.

Leach would be interesting, but he wouldn't scare me as much as Mullen or Rodriguez

Mark Richt would be interesting if UGA gets rid of him (probably not happening) or if he gets fed up (more likely). He is well connected in Florida, and they want someone to run a clean program

Here's my wish list:
1. Mike Leach - This seems to be the most probable choice because they can get him cheap because he's damaged goods and he will have success offensively (just imagine Texas Tech with a running game). I don't think he would completely abandon the pro style offense they've run for years, but he's a weird dude and what do I know. Plus he has a pad in Key West, although the rumor is when he interviewed for the job after your truly was fired, he bombed so bad they said they would never invite him back again.
2. Brent Venables - He's got ties to the AD, played with him at K-State and worked with him at Oklahoma. But he's a lot like Shannon, a great DC with no personality.
3. Rich Rod - He's a bad fit at UMich and he'd have more success with decent speed and athletes.
4. Rob Chudzinski - This guy has been burried in NFL mediocraty since he left as their OC. I doubt he'd leave the NFL life to come back to college, but he's a hell of a football mind.
5. Jim Harbaugh - Long shot, but in the grand scheme of things, if Stanford and Miami swapped coaches, it could be the match made in heaven. Shannon likes to graduate players, Harbaugh knows how to win.

Just say no to Richt. Gruden, Cowher, John Fox and Jimmy Johnson are all pipe dreams.
