I live in Norman, OK, and I don't think I've met anyone that is particularly fond of Mr. Timmer. He is definitely one of those overenthusiastic meteorologist types that I just cannot stand. I get to chase every now and then, but if had had the resources and the time off to chase, I can position my vehicle (well, in smart positions--as you have seen from the show, that doesn't happen too often) to grab pictures and what not just as good as they can, if not better. The only thing that sucks is that if it is a high risk day anywhere close to Oklahoma, everyone and their mother is out chasing.

Not too many people are fond of Reed here in Lawton, either. I think more are fans of the TIV crew as the original TIV was built here in town. But, the TIV crew caught a lot of flack for a video that surfaced of them passing on a double yellow line going uphill in that tank with the train of Discovery Channel vehicles in tow. That started a shit storm between Skywarn, Vortex 2, for-profit chasers, TV meteorologists, etc.

We were actually chasing that large, rain-wrapped tornado in Childress, TX for our station since that is on the western edge of our viewing area. We set up about 3 miles to the east and watched it trek off towards the northeast. It was amazing to see how Timmer approached that storm. We had similar shots of the storm, but not nearly as hair-raising as his. I absolutely love what I do. It's all about keeping the public safe and ahead of the storm with our live streaming video. May get another chance for a small chase this Friday.

On another note, I'm hoping they bring their chase vehicles to the National Weather Festival in Norman November 6th. We are planning to bring our storm chase vehicle up there for the day.

I think its pretty messed up to assume ANY of that destruction was staged.

this has been an intense episode. I hope the rest of the season can hold a candle to this one.

Oh I don't believe any of the actual destruction was staged I guess they just have bigger balls than me to go running through downed power lines with water puddles all around. Just at the start it made me wonder if after all was said and done they went back and took a few scenes for added dramatic effect is all

I am a meteorologist and storm chaser and I definitely enjoy this show. I imagine Reed is most likely an arrogant jerk in person. I have heard that he can be at least. Sean in the TIV seems like a bit of a dick too and a lot of chasers out west were pissed at him for some reckless driving etc. this past season. Obviously editing and TV shows can make someone appear just about any way the producers want them to so we have to be careful but I am sure some of these people let it get to their heads.

On a side note I seriously doubt the Yazoo City destruction was staged on the show. That was a serious event with deadly consequences. I will say I am glad we are past that now as they spent nearly one and a half shows building that up constantly.

The guys with sean have to understand though that his objective is different from the other guys. He is there to make a movie chasing comes second. I fully understand why he didnt wanna goto Mississippi simply because trying to film a good storm just isnt very doable there.

Just finished the episode and Im just baffled that Matt did such a thing. You could see the pure joy in his face when they got inside that twister it was like a kid on Christmas morning. It almost makes you wonder if after that he felt as though he had achieved his main goal that was keeping himself from letting depression or whatever get the best of him. Either way it's very sad to think about I always liked him.

Managed to get a close up look at the Dominator yesterday up in Norman at a big storm chaser car show. I honestly thought the doors were going to be a little more dense. I know it has the Rhino lining on the outside and a thick metal shell, but there's a wide gap between the metal pipe bracing and the doors of the stock car. Still, from the shows we've seen, it holds up pretty well.

The rocket probes look to have been shot off multiple times given the wear I saw. I wasn't sure if they had it installed during the last episode that I missed. Also, I have no idea where the hell the 2x4 in the left rear door came from! It had a couple of names signed on it (mostly theirs), but there was no mention of when or where it came from. Dented the metal and Rhino lining!

I didn't get to meet Reed or Joel. The line to meet all three of them and get autographs for Reed's new book was about an hour or more long. I did get to meet Chris though since he was more by himself out by the Dominator during the afternoon. You could really tell that the nagging and drama got to him, but he said that they've hashed it out and really work well together. Really humble and nice guy.
